What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Enforce state water pollution control laws and respond to complaints related to permitted facilities
- Prepare wastewater discharge permits and inspect compliance of municipalities and industries
- Provide compliance assistance to wastewater collection and treatment facilities
- Manage emergencies related to wastewater facilities
- Conduct routine travel within the assigned geographic area for program assistance and training
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Education and/or professional experience related to wastewater management, water management, or natural resources management
- Customer service experience addressing inquiries or complaints from diverse customers
- Ability to conduct inspections and enforce environmental compliance principles
- Experience in data review and analysis of environmental data sets
- Knowledge of regulatory policies, standards, or guidelines related to wastewater management
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience investigating environmental complaints related to wastewater
- Academic degree in wastewater management or relevant professional experience in wastewater treatment operations
- Experience interpreting and applying Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (WPDES) Permits
- Skills in addressing or resolving conflicts regarding environmental issues
