- Review, classify, and collect articles of evidence, as necessary, for all incoming reports of student misconduct
- Communicate and coordinate across the University to classify and assess student complaints
- Assign reports of misconduct and student complaints based on the preliminary review conducted
- Document completed accountability packages and other action-based sanctions
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the student handbook, as well as department and university policies and procedures
- Serve as an advocate for both students and the APUS code of conduct standards
- Coach students on remedial behavior and University expectations
- Assist with special projects as needed to enhance the division of Student and Alumni Services
- Other duties as assigned
- Prior experience in higher education, student services/affairs, required
- Strong understanding of university policy and higher education regulations, and best practices, required
- Exceptional problem-solving and de-escalation abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, required
- Bachelors required; Masters preferred
Conduct & Disputes Specialist American Public University System
* This is a full-time but temporary role running through end of the year, with the possibility of becoming permanent *
The Conduct & Disputes Specialist assists the Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities by classifying the incidents of student misconduct reported to the Office, conducting preliminary reviews of the reports to ensure the reporting party provided supporting documentation, and assisting in the sanctioning process. This role works with students, faculty, staff, and the university community while classifying complaints reported through the University's general grievance process and assessing if the reporting party has attempted to resolve their complaints through the University's formal appeal or special request processes. The Conduct & Disputes Specialist assists with collecting and organizing the documentation necessary to conduct Student Conduct Board reviews.
The Conduct & Disputes Specialist will work with the Associate Vice President of Student Rights and Responsibilities to document and research and document reported student conduct violations and initiate the grievance resolution process for complaints reported to the Office of Student Conduct.
