What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Operate telecommunications equipment to receive and relay emergency and non-emergency calls
- Communicate with agencies via Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and maintain contact during critical incidents
- Dispatch units and coordinate communication for multiple simultaneous tasks
- Use legal and regulatory guidelines to ensure proper responses to incidents
- Maintain databases and perform data entry for telecommunications networks
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School diploma or G.E.D. and one year of telecommunications experience or equivalent
- One year of computer experience
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing
- Capability to perform under pressure in a highly stressful environment
- Knowledge of 9-1-1 concepts and telecommunications equipment functions
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Familiarity with law enforcement computer databases and telecommunications networks
- Experience in emergency telecommunications
- Strong skills in operating modern office equipment, including computers
- Ability to interpret maps and legal location descriptions
