      Why this role is important?

      Basic Function

      The Contract Manager will be responsible for the preparation, evaluation, negotiation, revision, and execution for all contracts as they pertain to relevant business units and functions at SHN.

      Nature and Scope

      Lead and coordinate the entire contract lifecycle process including but not limited to initiation and finalization of contracts, ongoing monitoring of contractor activity, reviewing progress, raising problems and changes, and establishing efficient and clear lines of communication and reporting. The Contract Manager will act as a resource for SHN business units and functions and serve as the point of contact for clients and relevant parties regarding contractual matters.

      Principal Accountabilities

      • Drafting, evaluation, negotiation, and implementation of all contracts including:

      Example contract types:

      • non-disclosure agreements, sales / purchasing agreements, sub-contracts, consulting agreements, licensing agreements, master agreements, review of customer proposed terms and conditions.
      • Distribution agreements (resellers, agents, joint marketing etc.);
      • Commercial and public (federal, provincial, and local municipalities) contracting.
      • Act as a liaison between internal and external clients regarding contract agreements and amendments ensuring timely review and approval.
      • Lead and facilitate contract negotiation discussions as necessary.
      • Maintain contractual documentation including but not limited to contractual changes, regular status reports, compliance, and all correspondence as such.
      • Assist with day-to-day administrative tasks and procedures to ensure timely processing of contract documentation and implementation.
      • Develop and maintain a contracts database to manage changes, terms and status notifications
      • Act as a subject matter authority in areas and issues regarding various contract terms and conditions.
      • Ensure timely and effective communication of all contractual activity and status updates to relevant parties.

      Skill & Qualifications

      • ­­Five to Seven (5-7) years of relevant contract management experience is required
      • Bachelor’s Degree and or experience as a paralegal
      • Experience in a contract service organization is an asset
      • Bilingual would be an asset (English and French)
      • Strong drafting, analysis and negotiation skills with a track record of establishing strong working relationships
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and well developed interpersonal skills
      • Exceptional organizational skills and high attention to detail
      • Proven success in working effectively and collaboratively within a team environment
      • Flexibility and willingness to work with minimal supervision, often in a time-sensitive, dynamic and rapidly growing and evolving environment.
      • Ability to teach and inform contracting concepts within the company.
