      • Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with HMRC and other official bodies, and be a point of contact in respect of customs and excise regimes
      • Coach and mentor Co-op teams, sharing knowledge, experience, and expertise in order to develop abilities and behaviours

This role would suit people who have

      • The ability to understand and apply legislation, policy, and guidance to Co-op’s customs and excise activity, leading and supporting change
      • The capacity to act as subject matter expert based on prior experience with significant technical experience in either customs or excise with a good understanding of the other regime
      • The ability to extract, analyse, and interpret data and apply the appropriate duty treatment
      • Demonstrable ability to assess process and the commercial impact of changes to EU and UK customs and excise legislation and HMRC policy
      • Excellent planning and organisation skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and meet agreed deadlines
      • Strong people skills, and the ability to operate at multiple levels throughout the organisation
      • An analytical mind, with the ability to manage and review work undertaken by others
      • The ability to communicate technical subject matter to a non-technical audience in order to build colleague engagement and understanding
