      This is where YOU fit in: As the Department Manager, to answer the call; a team player who is dedicated to supporting our local Naval community, and operational successes on a day to day basis. You will perform a variety of tasks which includes the oversight of a team of associates. This team is essential to keeping our stores well stocked, clean and functional. Your work will make an impact and support how our organization serves the best customer – our activity duty Military and civilian patrons.

      So, what might a “typical” day look like?

      o Responsible for department level execution of retail and/or assigned mall services business strategies, procedures and policies.

      o Ensures department is fully stocked, merchandise attractively displayed; including effective signing, and accurate pricing.

      o Review department merchandise stock structure, make recommendations and provide information to the Divisional and Store Manager. Review of daily sales reports, provides input on sales goals and budgets.

      o Establish and implement an effective customer relations program. Ensures that the services provided meet or exceed standards and customer expectations.

      o Responsible for staffing levels, scheduling, supervising, training and motivates assigned sales associates.

      The Qualifiers:

      o Three years of experience gained in administrative clerical retail sales or other related work to gain knowledge of selling floor operation practices & procedures. Skills in dealing with others in a person to person work relationship. Training, data administration, and reporting.

      o One year of experience in merchandise control inventory stock record keeping or O ne year of Supervisory experience in retail promotion, merchandise display, or area of customer relations in improving sales and operating cost.

      o Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to perform job duties, including leading, teaching, assigning work, and assessing performance of assigned associates.

      o Knowledge of computer and management systems.

      o Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

      3 YEARS GENERAL EXPERIENCE Experience which was gained in administrative clerical retail sales or other related work which enabled the applicant to gain knowledge of selling floor operation practices and procedures skill in dealing with others in person-to-person work relationships and the ability to exercise mature judgment.

      OR

      SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE 1 year of academic study above the high school level may be substituted for each 9 months of experience. Substitution of 1 year for 1 year in those instances where co-op experience is required of a student as part of the program study.

      AND

      1 YEAR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE Progressive experience which provided background in merchandise controls inventory stock record keeping and reports exempt or non-exempt supervisory experience merchandise display and retail promotions or experience in the area of customer relations in an effort to improve sales and maintain operating cost efficiencies.
