- Research global tax matters, draft tax policies, distill complex tax topics into plain English to educate and inform internal and external stakeholders.
- Draft fund structure charts and document global tax obligations to support global launches.
- Draft and negotiate tax provisions in White Label agreements, Partnership agreements, investor PPMs, and Sub docs.
- Provide oversight and input on the tax due diligence of prospective investments, acquisitions, fund launches, new products, and new markets working with internal stakeholders and external advisors to educate, enhance firm systems, and mitigate tax risks.
- Lead the tax department’s discussion and responses for global tax authority inquiries, notices, audits, and examinations.
- Manage the global change management process to ensure rule changes are identified, analyzed, and actioned in a timely manner.
- Participate in client calls to discuss complex tax structuring, compliance, and operational topics.
- Lead the tax vendor management functions across vendor identification, budget, contracts, accruals, performance management and invoice payments.
- Direct the effort to re-engineer processes, enhance procedures and oversee policies, procedures, workflows, metrics, and controls.
- Analyze existing tax reporting and compliance processes and recommend improvements to facilitate scale, process efficiencies, risk reduction and improve the client experience.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to the broader members of the global tax team.
- Facilitate internal cross functional working groups and participate in various internal committees.
- Participate in industry working groups and drive solutions with vendors, clients, and peers.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or master’s degree in relevant field (MBA, master’s in taxation or master’s in accounting degree preferred)
- 10+ years of relevant experience, preferably with a background in cross-border tax compliance for alternative investment funds and private wealth investors.
- Strong business analysis and project management skills are required.
- Financial, Tax, or Asset Management operational experience is preferred.
- Able to communicate complex tax issues clearly and concisely, in a manner targeted at a wide range of audiences.
- Able to work effectively within the in-house tax group, with cross-border teams, multidisciplinary business lines and project teams.
- Intermediate Microsoft suite skills (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and comfortable learning new systems and technology
- Proven ability to multi-task and work both independently and as a team player in a fast-paced demanding environment
- Willingness to learn new topics and work in an evolving business environment.
- Organized, initiative-taking, and detail-oriented with capability to see the big picture.
- Experience with managing client expectations and communications, as well as solution development

About the Role
iCapital’s expansion into the global marketplace creates an opportunity for an experienced and talented tax professional to support the continued expansion of the business. This role sits in the Fund Finance Tax Services team reporting into the Head of Fund Tax supporting structuring, operational excellence, and tax compliance worldwide.

The base salary range for this role is $180,000 to $230,000. iCapital offers a compensation package which includes salary, equity for all full-time employees, and an annual performance bonus.
