      Job summary

      We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team on Hockley Ward.

      You will need good leadership skills and be able to take charge of the ward in the managers absence. Working closely with a experienced team delivering the best care to the patients including dementia care, discharge planning and end of life care.

      Hockley Ward is a medical ward for the over 75's. We provide care for patients with complex medical and social issues. We work closely with the patients and their families to give high standards of care, working with many specialities to enable a seamless journey for the patient from admission to discharge. Hockley ward leads in Dementia care and promotes holistic care.

      You will need to have leadership skills and experience of taking charge of a busy acute unit. They must have excellent communication and organisational skills. Having knowledge and experience in care of the elderly would be preferable.

      You will be expected to assist the Ward Manager in managing a team of staff members. They will be expected to take part in gathering information and compiling reports and taking part in projects as part of their role

      Main duties of the job

      The deputy ward manager's role is to support the ward manager in the safe management of the ward and to act in the ward manager's absence to support staff, ensure patient safety and be a point of contact for the ward.

      Provide a high standard of individualised care to patients, acting as a role model and supporting the Senior Sister/Charge nurse in driving quality care provision forward

      Be responsible for standards of cleanliness in their own clinical area in partnership with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse

      Provide clear clinical leadership to staff, deputising for the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in her/his absence
