Job Description

- Support and serve donors who contribute to annual giving programs including the patron memberships
- Work with Annual Fund Manager to create and execute program strategies
- Serve as main point of contact to respond to patron inquiries or service needs
- Assist with managing portfolio of patron levels $500-2500
- Effectively steward and communicate with donors to attain high rate of renewal
- Work in Centaman and Salesforce for gift entry and record management
- Prepare and fulfill gift acknowledgments per Foundation policy
- Engage with patrons during patron-specific events and activities
- Work with Donor Relations Manager to proactively plan calendar of patron communications
- Assist with Adopt program including campaign promotions and fulfillment
- Serve as backup on phone calls and greeting guests
- Provide monthly reporting on the status of revenues including patron retention rates and % to goal
- Maintain relationships with external vendors and a wide variety of departments
- Serve as a representative of OZF by showing passion and positivity when interacting with donors or guests daily, while on the phone or on Zoo grounds
- Assist OZF staff in the roll-out of private donor events or tours as needed
- Additional duties as assigned

- Working knowledge of Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium or ability to learn quickly
- Comfort communicating with the public about conservation issues in a positive and rewarding way
- Problem solving skills to identify practical solution
- Able to successfully work in a collaborative, team-oriented organization as well as autonomously
- Ability to maintain positive interactions with Zoo staff to remain up to date on Zoo facilities, animal collection and current conservation efforts
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, judgment, and discretion with confidential information
- Experience in office environment, nonprofit work, donor relations, or customer service

As the Development Assistant, your primary job function will be to serve donors and patrons who make a huge impact on bringing in the funds necessary to preserve Omaha’s Zoo for future generations. Your support of the patron program and building quality donor relations are vital to successful fundraising strategies.
The Development Assistant will report to the Annual Giving Manager to provide support and stewardship to donors who contribute to the annual fund.
