- Performing administrative duties related to the development of multi-family housing projects including preparing agendas, meeting minutes, and project schedules.
- Preparing development feasibility studies, market research, and due diligence documents.
- Helping to manage and update project schedules, proformas, and consultant budgets.
- Assisting with the liaison of various consultants, trades, construction partners, and other stakeholders through the development process from initial project feasibility through planning approvals to construction.
- Keeping the Development team updated with new planning legislation and policies.
- Processing project invoicing and actively moving forward and critiquing related vendor requests to continue project delivery.
- Conducting research as it relates to new development opportunities and changing market conditions.
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation and policy including Zoning By-Laws, Official Plans, Planning Act, Condominium Act, Environmental Protection Act, and Development Charges Act
- Knowledge of Planning and Approvals process of various applications including Zoning By-Law Amendments, Official Plan Amendments, Plan of Subdivision, Site Plan Control, Minor Variance, and Consent
- Ability to review plans and drawings for various development projects and work with various consultants including architects and engineers.
- Ability to liaise and coordinate with consultants and stakeholders (engineers, surveyors, legal departments, municipalities, and builders) to ensure timely development of projects.
- Expertise in utilizing contemporary planning and scheduling principles, methodologies, techniques, and tools.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Post-Secondary education in Urban Planning, Real Estate, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1-2 years development experience as planner/project coordinator.
- Prior experience with development applications within Ontario and/or BC.
- Knowledge of all components of Microsoft Office, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience with 3D modelling software, such as SketchUp, is an asset.
- Knowledge of construction project management, specifically in infill residential development is an asset.

Reports to: Senior Development Manager
Position Summary: The Development Coordinator will support the department with developing multi-family housing projects on owned land available within CAPREIT’s existing portfolio, as well as through various partnerships. Successful candidates will assist in coordinating ongoing/upcoming projects and will take on various responsibilities pertaining to overall project completion. The Development Coordinator is expected to use strong management and organizational skills to ensure that projects are coordinated successfully, efficiently, and profitably.
