      Job Description

      Teledyne Controls, LLC is seeking a Junior Development Engineer to work on embedded systems and custom applications for airlines and aircraft. You will collaborate with senior software engineers developing and testing software for commercial aircraft, focusing on wireless devices, networking, and data acquisition management systems. You will learn avionics communication protocols used across our products, including aircraft data acquisition, wireless data transfer, and networked systems.

      Your responsibilities include designing, developing, and testing custom applications on customized operating systems and bootloaders, debugging and troubleshooting avionic applications, and modifying and testing software programs using languages such as C/C++/C# and scripting languages like Python, shell, and bash in Real-Time OS, Linux, or Windows environments. You will also set up lab tests, manage software configurations, and develop test requirements and procedures, gaining exposure to various debugging, troubleshooting, and coding technologies.

      Office Location(s): This position is onsite, split between Thousand Oaks and El Segundo.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities

      1. Write software code for graphical user interfaces and firmware for embedded processes as required.
      2. Design, analyze, and verify testing of functional components for new product design.
      3. Participate in testing, debugging, and certification of software.
      4. Document installation and maintenance procedures.
      5. Perform simulations, systems modeling, and analysis in designing compilers, assemblers, and utility programs.
      6. Advise hardware designers on machine characteristics affecting software systems.
      7. Contribute to documentation of programs.
      8. Interface with users to define system requirements or modifications.
      9. Brief others on project status and progress.
      10. Provide application support as needed.
      11. Develop documentation, flowcharts, diagrams, and clear code to demonstrate solutions.
      12. Design system specifications, standards, and programming solutions.
      13. Analyze and summarize development and service issues.
      14. Availability may include evenings and weekends to meet goals and deadlines.

      Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in a related field with 1+ years of experience or equivalent education and training (including internships, projects).
      • Proficiency in C/C++/Python with practical experience.
      • Experience with embedded systems through projects or work.
      • Knowledge of Linux and Real-Time OS.
      • Some exposure to Yocto Project for custom Linux distributions.
      • Deep understanding of data structures and algorithms.
      • Ability to write test procedures and work instructions.
      • Strong problem-solving skills.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
      • Experience with test automation.
      • Knowledge of PC hardware and operating systems.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

      Salary Range: $58,100.00 - $77,400.00
