      The J.P. Morgan Development Finance Institution (JPM DFI) aims to expand J.P. Morgan’s sustainable development-oriented financing activities by: (i) applying its impact methodology to assess the anticipated impact of transactions; (ii) originating and structuring sustainable development finance transactions; and (iii) identifying sources of capital interested in financing opportunities with measurable development impact. By supporting the origination and distribution of financial products to institutional investors who are interested in financing sustainable transactions, the JPM DFI aims to increase the volume of capital that flows towards sustainable development on a commercial basis.

      As a Vice President in the Development Finance Institution, you will be responsible for leading the execution of mandates where the JPM DFI team is mandated to support its clients (corporations or sovereign entities based predominantly in developing countries) produce sustainable development impact disclosure frameworks. You will also support pipeline development and provide subject matter expertise on client matters related to ESG, sustainability and impact. You will play a key role in leading the team in meeting its objectives.

      Job Responsibilities

      • Provide subject matter expertise to clients (corporate and sovereign entities based in emerging markets and developing economies) on sustainable development impact in line with industry standards
      • Lead engagement with clients to create Sustainable Development Impact Disclosure (“SDID”) frameworks for clients across geographies; ensuring the quality and rigor of the frameworks meet our standards
      • Support coverage bankers with development expertise to create a pipeline of transactions supported by the JPM DFI; this will include participation in deal pitches to clients that have sustainable development impacts
      • Work closely with the Head of the JPM DFI to advance the work of the Impact Disclosure Taskforce
      • Represent the JPM DFI in internal and external fora, as well as presentations with clients
      • Stay abreast of latest research and trends in international development; engage in relevant dialogue with internal and external audiences, and contribute to thought-leadership


      Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

      • Subject matter expertise in the field of international development, including a keen understanding of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and development impact frameworks, monitoring, and evaluation
      • 6+ years of professional experience in international development, management consulting, legal, financial services, public development banks, or other related professional / managerial fields
      • Bachelor’s degree, with strong preference in graduate degrees in international development, economics, business administration, finance, public policy, law, or other related fields
      • Structured and rigorous thinker, with the ability to develop and apply frameworks for complex entities
      • Ability to navigate across large organizations to get things done and broker information across the firm
      • Ability to form strong partnerships and work in environments where there are multiple, over-lapping stakeholders
      • Direct experience with ESG / sustainability / impact reporting strongly preferred
      • Knowledge of banking and capital markets, especially core investment banking products and services, strongly preferred
      • Flexibility to travel
      • Excellent (English) written and oral communication skills
      • Personal integrity, initiative and leadership qualities
