      Responsibilities

      POSITION SUMMARY

      The Human Resources Director directs the development, implementation, and coordination of policies and programs covering employment, placement, orientation, training, employee relations, compensation, organizational development, health benefits, and employee services. The Human Resources Direct is also responsible for providing overall human resources generalist support for the facility, which includes maintaining all personnel records and files, conducting employee benefits and 401(k) enrollment meetings, responding to insurance and unemployment compensation correspondence, and organizing all employee activities and in-services. All other duties as assigned. Position reports directly to the CEO.

      PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

      1. Provides Human Resources generalist/leadership support to the facility by managing all personnel issues within Cedar Springs Hospital, Corporate policies and procedures and all federal and state guidelines.
      2. Directs all activities related to preparing personnel-related documents for the Joint Commission surveys.
      3. Directs activities related to the recruitment of all vacancies, including interviewing as needed, job placement, and overseeing the New Hire Orientation process.
      4. Oversees and directs activities in the Human Resources Department to include preparation of personnel files and maintenance of personnel records in accordance with facility and corporate personnel policies and guidelines.
      5. Oversees and directs the activities related to all pre-employment screenings to include criminal background checks and pre-employment drug screens for all new hires per policy.
      6. Conducts periodic audit of personnel files, ensuring all information is current and accurate.
      7. Conducts employee benefit orientations, open enrollment meetings, and other benefit-related events.
      8. Ensures that licensures for licensed-required positions are verified through direct source verification process upon hire and at renewal dates.
      1. Provides consultation and training to facility management regarding employee relations issues, counseling and termination procedures as required.
      2. Reports all personnel problem issues to the Chief Executive Officer.
      3. Maintains up-to-date wage and salary survey data within the relevant job market at the facility; updates salary structure and pay scales as needed or directed by the CEO.
      4. Ensures the maintenance of accurate position descriptions for all positions employed at the facility and consults with CEO on all changes or new position descriptions needed.
      5. Coordinates with Department Heads in maintaining all compliance issues with their staff: Competency, Performance Evaluations and Orientation and other required training.
      6. Consults with Corporate Human Resources, or Corporate Legal Department on all personnel matters outside the realm of expertise.
      7. Coordinates all activities related to the Employee Problem/Conflict Resolution Process and conducts related investigations/findings in a timely manner; reports and responds to all employees with respect to findings and outcomes in a professional manner.
      8. Responds quickly to all unemployment compensation claims received for prior facility personnel.
      9. Provides interpretation of all facility, corporate and Personnel policies and procedures as requested by management.
      10. Directs the completion of all employment verifications for current and terminated employees.
      11. Participates in special projects as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
      12. Organizes special employee events, employee activities and human resources related in-service training.
      13. Directs and coordinates activities related to all data entry into the HR Information Management System to include new hires, transfers, pay changes, address updates and other employee related information and changes.
      14. Communicates with payroll in a timely manner regarding all personnel changes/updates/revisions.
      15. Oversees the FMLA, General Leave of Absence and ADAAA processes, ensuring that all information is communicated to Corporate Office in a timely manner.
      16. Attends all mandated Human Resources conferences and training seminars as directed.
      17. Adheres to facility, department, corporate, personnel and standard policies and procedures.
      18. Attends all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.
      19. Adheres to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance, and punctuality.
      20. Supports facility-wide quality/performance improvement goals and objectives.
      21. Maintains confidentiality of facility employees and patient information.

      Qualifications

      QUALIFICATIONS

      Education: Bachelor’s Degree is required; Master’s or BBA Degree with Major in Human Resource Management is preferred, or related field as deemed appropriate by the CEO. SHRM, SPHR or PHR certification is preferred.

      Experience: A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Human Resources. Prefer at least two years’ experience working in Human Resources in a healthcare setting. Previous Supervisory or Director-Level experience is highly desirable.

      Additional Requirements: Must have good understanding of HR related Joint Commission Standards/DHS and be familiar with the Joint Commission Survey process. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Good general computer knowledge, in Word and Excel, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and the ability to prepare various HR reports. Must have understanding and be able to apply applicable state and federal labor laws, benefits, wage/salary administration, employee relations, and workers compensation. Requires leadership, creativity, high energy, organizational, supervisory, administrative abilities, and problem-solving skills. Also, requires verbal/written, interpersonal and customer service skills. Requires ability to exercise independent judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Must be able to maintain confidentiality as it relates to sensitive hospital and employee issues. Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.

      7. Ability to retrieve files from bottom shelves and drawers and the ability to move boxes of paper and forms to the computer printer (done up to 15 times daily).
      8. Ability to reach, turn and twist above and below the waist daily to retrieve files from top shelves to get office supplies from upper shelves in supply closet (done up to 20 times per day).
      9. Ability to stand and walk daily to retrieve forms/supplies for department.
      10. Ability to hear and speak well enough to answer and communicate effectively.
      11. Ability to spend 10% of working time outside in temperature varying from -0oF to 110oF.
      12. Ability to spend 90% working time in environment of continuous moderate voices and office machine noise typical for office/healthcare atmosphere.
      13. Ability to handle a variety of repetitive tasks.
