      About Us

Kägwerks designs and develops rugged, tactical operator-worn communications technologies that enable unmatched connectivity and integrated secure networking for the individual war fighter.

We strive to increase the survivability and lethality of the war fighter on the battlefield. We do so by providing unmatched integrated tactical communications solutions that help further our national security objectives

      About the Role

Reporting directly to the Kägwerks President, the Director – Business Development – SOCOM will lead sales strategy and execution to meet aggressive growth targets within the U.S. Special Operations Forces (SOF) community. This high-impact leadership role focuses on cultivating strategic, long-term relationships across SOCOM components and identifying mission-aligned business opportunities.

The Director will be primarily customer-facing—engaging directly with SOF users, program offices, and acquisition stakeholders. With deep knowledge of the Kagwerks product portfolio, they will confidently represent capabilities, collaborate closely with our Solutions Team and Customer Support Hub, and ensure accurate quoting and exceptional service delivery.

      Core elements will include:

      • Lead and implement business development strategies focused on SOF-unique requirements, including dismounted soldier systems, tactical communications, and edge computing.
      • Build and maintain trusted relationships with key stakeholders across USSOCOM and its components (e.g., USASOC, MARSOC, NSW, AFSOC), as well as program offices like PEO SOF Digital Applications and PEO SOF Warrior.
      • Identify, shape, and capture opportunities aligned with SOCOM's operational imperatives and modernization priorities, including Hyper Enabled Operator (HEO), Next-Gen ISR, and resilient C5ISR architectures.
      • Drive growth in ruggedized, mission-adaptable technologies that enhance operator lethality, situational awareness, and survivability.
      • Work collaboratively with internal teams—including engineering, capture, and contracts—to ensure proposed solutions align with customer needs and acquisition timelines.
      • Represent Kägwerks at SOF-focused industry days, technical exchange meetings, and operational exercises to advocate for our capabilities and gather user feedback.
      • Provide leadership and mentorship to the business development team, fostering a mission-first, agile, and results-oriented culture.

      About You

You bring deep familiarity with the U.S. Special Operations ecosystem and have cultivated strong networks across SOCOM and its service components. Prior experience working alongside SOF program offices, acquisition commands, or directly with end users in operational units is essential.

You possess a strong understanding of the unique procurement pathways, rapid acquisition mechanisms (e.g., SOFWERX, OTA, BAAs), and fielding timelines specific to SOCOM. Your insight into capability gaps and operator-driven innovation enables you to align technical solutions to real-world mission sets.

You are a confident communicator with the ability to translate complex technical details into actionable opportunities. Adaptable and resourceful, you thrive in fast-moving environments and are comfortable navigating ambiguity.

A technical, business, or defense-related degree is preferred; however, relevant SOF-focused business development experience or prior military service in a SOF capacity will also be highly valued.

This role requires regular travel across North America to engage with SOF stakeholders, attend demonstrations, and support field activities. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain (or currently hold) a security clearance are mandatory.

While Kagwerks supports flexible working, the collaborative and high-engagement nature of this position requires regular presence at our Ashburn, VA facility.

      Benefits and Culture

Our culture is supportive and collaborative. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team where we share our ideas and innovation is strongly encouraged. We are looking for someone with genuine passion and a can-do attitude for what they do. Our staff receive 15 days accrued paid time off per year, 10 Federal holidays plus an additional 2 floating holidays, an opportunity to join our sponsored health and welfare plan, a generous 401k plan with matching employer contribution, an Employee Assistance Program, and more. Additionally, we offer flexible core working hours and we take a personal approach to training and development.
