      Job Description:

      In the role of Director, HRBP you will partner closely with leaders in the Enterprise Functions to inform what talent initiatives are necessary to drive business success. You will work with the business to deliver talent programs that align to their specific needs and objectives.

      As an HR business partner, you will focus on building trust with business leaders to develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the business strategies that align to talent initiatives and drive business success and strategy execution. This includes delivering on HR cycles and practices that focus on the leader and employee experience as well as support outcomes that evolve the function’s operating model, and drive a high performing, empowered organization. Reporting to the AVP, Human Resources Business Partner, this role is a trusted and valued partner in a global portfolio which includes Executives within highly matrixed groups across the Enterprise.

      What will you do:

      • Partner, advise and coach leaders to diagnose, consult and problem solve on talent situations and challenges to maximize the effectiveness of their organizations.
      • Effectively partner with CoEs to design and implement talent initiatives to achieve business outcomes and optimize the employee experience.
      • Create and execute on organizational changes and talent programs and initiatives.
      • Identify and validate talent gaps in the business through the use of data to build business cases for talent recommendations.
      • Provides proactive advice using data, insights, and analytics to inform business and talent decision making.
      • Lead and manage the annual talent cycles (Performance, Talent Review, Compensation, etc.) for your functions.
      • Builds knowledge of HR and industry trends to advance employee capability, develop and attract talent for the future.
      • Be a trusted advisor for the functions you support on talent policies, cycles, and initiatives.
      • Deliver, refine, and maintain a clear and strategic succession plan.

      What you need to succeed:

      • Experience building relationships by fostering trust, communicating effectively, and understanding the needs of leaders and employees.
      • Confidence interacting with senior leaders.
      • Broad understanding and application of HR and Talent practices, including change management experience.
      • Excellent communication, consulting, influencing and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to flex to different styles.
      • Can execute quickly, effectively, and consistently.
      • Ability to lead a program with multiple projects with senior stakeholders.
      • Strong systems thinking and the ability to proactively identify solutions and associated impacts.
      • Superior collaborative working abilities and experience.
      • Previous experience as an HR Business Partner supporting leaders in a matrixed organizational structure.
      • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.

      The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
