      We're seeking a visionary and experienced Director of Operational Excellence to lead a mighty team committed to strengthening the skills and strategies needed to navigate change successfully. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of developing and delivering cutting-edge continuous improvement, change management, and project management training that empowers our teams to thrive. You will also be an architect of change, crafting change management strategies that ensure every member of our organization embraces and excels in our evolving landscape.

      What you will do:

      • Develop and refine comprehensive continuous improvement, change leadership, change management, and project management training programs and workshops tailored to the needs of our organization.
      • Provide expert guidance and consultation services to operational areas helping them optimize their processes, lead and manage change, achieve transformative results, and ensure smooth transitions.
      • Lead a team of subject matter experts to deliver engaging and effective training sessions and consulting services.
      • Develop metrics and assessment methods to gauge the success of change initiatives and refine strategies as needed.
      • Assess the impact of training initiatives and consulting services driving continuous improvement in our education programs.
      • Collaborate with business and operations’ teams and leaders to align training and consulting efforts with strategic objectives.
      • Stay at the forefront of Continuous Improvement, Design Thinking, Project Management, and Change Management methodologies, ensuring our programs align with industry best practices.

      PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

      Provides broad and tactical Operational Excellence leadership and expertise to clinical and administrative staff to achieve successful operational and business performance and support the delivery of high quality and safe patient-centric care. The Director manages the technical and people management aspects of a medium to large functional area within the Operational Excellence organization.
      Assigned functional area(s) and OpEx staff resources will vary in size, scope, expertise, and complexity. The Director is an expert in either Process Engineering, Project Management, Change Management or Data Science and provides leadership and direction to a team of Project/Program Managers, Process Engineers, Change Management Specialists, Data Analysts from junior to principal level, as well as OpEx Managers who are working on the specified portfolio.
      The Director leads highly visible and complex programs and projects providing tactical guidance and insight and requiring collaboration with senior leaders. The Director fosters & owns the relationship with stakeholders and functional business leaders they support, which includes strategy discussion and any current challenges needing addressed.
      The Director works effectively as a member of the Operational Excellence leadership team, sharing responsibility for the implementation of Operational Excellence education, tools, and methods across the enterprise to create and establish a culture of continuous improvement.
      PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
      • Leads the application of operational excellence principles to plan, develop, facilitate, and implement initiatives across the enterprise.
      • Works on issues of diverse scope to deliver improvements and transformational change. Project scope may require analysis of several factors, including understanding current business trends.
      • Partners with stakeholders for project/program intake and to identify and perform activities related to defining work and measuring problems in large complex operations.
      • Takes lead in performing or managing work related to developing future state goals and oversight of related data analysis and metrics development for program and portfolio level initiatives.
      • Ensures appropriate project management, process engineering, change management and data science methods and tools are utilized throughout each initiative in the portfolio. • Facilitates teams that will identify, design, and implement solutions using sound project / program management, engineering principles, and/or change management principles.
      • Assists institutional leadership and Operational Excellence team members in identifying project/program priorities and dependencies.
      • Develops and updates portfolio roadmap and associated metrics to track and monitor alignment and progress.
      • In partnership with senior leadership, ensures regular communications regarding initiative status and progress. Reports regularly on project/program progress to stakeholders, project team, steering, and executive committees and Operational Excellence leadership.
      • Bridge knowledge gaps in projects by requesting, managing, and developing additionally required capabilities and coordinate / communicate with all levels of senior management, appropriate project teams, and process owners to ensure projects are integrated with the business strategy.
      • Provides expert advice to leaders as they develop solutions for complex problems by innovating, designing, and developing processes, procedures, tooling and/or automation.
      • In partnership with senior leadership, implements specific change management strategies including planning, identification of risks, coordination with stakeholders, and overcoming of obstacles to change.
      • Partners and collaborates with functional and operational leaders to ensure smooth organizational transitions ensuring clean hand off to process owners and supports stabilization of implemented changes.

      • Responsible for curriculum and training development, education instruction, and facilitation of workshops to support Operational Excellence organizational learning.
      • With guidance from senior OpEx leadership, sets the strategy and standard for staffing levels for projects, programs, and operations.
      • Promotes teamwork within and across the OpEx teams to maintain a trusted, open, and collegial collaboration environment.
      • Manages team dynamics and stakeholder engagement at multiple organizational levels providing coaching and mentoring.
      • Provides mentorship and development guidance to Process Improvement Engineers, Project Managers, Change Management Specialists, and Data Analysts working on their portfolio.
      • With guidance from senior OpEx leadership, recommends and/or approves merit, incentive, and promotional opportunities for team members under their supervision.
      • Provides consultation services to functional areas of the organization to discuss strategy and provide a framework for operational execution.

      • Some travel between locations primarily during the business day, although occasional out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
      SUPERVISION:
      • Responsible for the direct supervision of various levels of Operational Excellence staff.
      EDUCATION AND REQUIRED CREDENTIALS:
      • Bachelor’s Degree – Business Management, Industrial Engineering, Technical or Healthcare specialization required
      • Master’s Degree preferred
      2 of the following certifications required:
      • Program or Project Management certification
      • Lean Bronze/Silver certification
      • Six Sigma Black Belt certification
      • Change Management certification
      EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
      • 10+ years’ operational excellence, continuous improvement, and healthcare related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • 3+ years’ supervisory experience as a manager preferred.
      • 5+ years’ project/program management, continuous improvement or change management experience required.
      • Strong management skills with the ability to lead cohesive and productive teams.
      • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of management through diplomacy and tact.
      • Demonstrated ability to manage one or more functions.
      • Ability to interact with senior management on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines.
      • Ability to manage cross functional program and project teams.
      • Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships and leverage existing stakeholder relationships within organizations.
      • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
      • Strong analytical skills and ability to construct business case analysis.
      • Ability to translate business requirements into work breakdown structures and realization plans.
      • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
      • Excellent planning, organization, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
      • Superb training and facilitation skills and ability to influence and motivate teams.
      • Ability to present to internal executive leadership and external groups outside the organization.
      • Excellent computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
