Collaborates with Senior Director and VP in develop ing SGI’s long-term strategic plan s and annual strategic plans , including providing insights, preparing documentation , and facilitating stakeholder consultations , and drafting the balanced scorecard and other supporting materials for recommendation to the executive, SGI Board of Directors and C rown I nvestments C orporation (CIC) Board of Directors .
Leads development and review of business strategies cascading from SGI’s corporate strategy , including organizing and facilitating strategic planning meetings with senior leaders, providing guidance and insights, and drafting strategy documents.
Leads corporate support for divisional functional strategies, including defining the supports available (e.g., standardized tools/templates and meeting facilitation), designing these supports, triaging , and fulfilling requests for support.
Supports the Senior Director and VP with drafting or reviewing annual performance objectives for the executive that align with the corporate and business strategies , and Crown sector strategic priorities .
Collaborates with Corporate Communications to develop and execute communication plans that drive awareness of and alignment with the corporate and business strategi c goals .
Leads SGI’s target operating model (TOM) process, including defining the process, designing standard tools/templates, and coordinating and facilitating development and regular reviews of TOMs throughout the organization.
Collaborates with others in the Corporate Strategy department to monitor corporate performance, evaluate when corrective action is needed and recommend action to senior leadership.
Leads the development and recommendation of key performance indicators and targets for the corporate strategy (i.e., balanced scorecard ) and business strategies.
Supports divisional leadership in developing key performance indicators for divisional functional strategies.
Builds a high performing workforce by actively leading human resource activities.
Ensures development of divisional succession plans.
Builds a culture of leadership and accountability to effectively deliver on strategic and corporate strategies, ensuring integration with employee performance development and career development plans.
Drives performance through team members and is committed to leadership development across the company, supporting employees and workforce readiness through mentoring, training and developmental opportunities.
Ensures programs and policies are in alignment with corporate, strategic and divisional strategies .
Manages risk in area of authority.
Prepares, reviews, manages and/or approves departmental/divisional budgets.
Prepares decision requests, decision and/or information items and/or SGI board items.
Ensures that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility, including development, implementation and managing of program components specific to departmental health and safety requirements.
Makes decisions for departmental operations that are efficient, effective and in alignment with strategic direction and priorities.
Ensures department and program policies, procedures and guidelines are in compliance with applicable federal and provincial legislation and regulations; implements and evaluates changes to legislation and regulations in area of authority.
Establishes and maintains an effective system of internal controls to support reliable financial reporting and compliance in accordance with applicable laws and regulations within the span of control, and communicates the importance of internal controls to staff.
A four-year degree in from an accredited post-secondary institution in a relevant field of study such as business.
Ten years of experience in strategy formulation and corporate governance including six years of progressively challenging leadership experience.
Knowledge of strategic planning processes, alignment , and measurements.
Knowledge of research techniques and the effective compilation of reports and presentations.
Knowledge of the insurance industry across multiple jurisdictions .
Knowledge of driver and vehicle regulation across multiple jurisdictions .
Knowledge of Crown corporation governance and governance processes.
Knowledge of the services provided by the corporation, government, and partner agencies, including knowledge of the operations of CIC , Cabinet, Caucus , and related committees.
Ability to prepare and deliver effective presentations, facilitate discussion, and achieve alignment.
Ability to write clearly, concisely, persuasively and targeted to the appropriate audience .
Ability to develop and execute on strategy.
Ability to balance shareholder interests with business strategy and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes.

The successful candidate will be responsible fo r leading the development of business strategies cascading from SGI’s strategic plan and supporting the development of corporate strategic plans . You will l ead corporate support for divisional functional strategies . Support the development, alignment , evaluation , and continuous improvement of corporate str ategic planning for SGI, SGI CANADA , and its regional operations .
