Accountabilities/Responsibilities The Role: We are expanding our team through M&G Global Services to continue delivering the highest levels of service to our end users. The Technology Resilience team upholds high standards within our growing business by managing critical functions, providing comprehensive oversight of our M&G technology estate, and supporting our Business teams in driving technological value. Our team supports our UK business and extends support to the Asia Pacific regions, requiring flexible working hours to meet business needs. Currently, we are spread across three geographies and supported by a technology partner, fostering a unified team spirit through regular collaboration to achieve common goals. The Technology Resilience team is central to all Technology operations. We establish and maintain plans to enable Technology to respond to significant incidents, absorb their impacts, and recover swiftly. This ensures the continued operation of critical business processes and required technology services, maintaining the availability of resources, assets, and information at a level acceptable to M&G Plc. • Work with SMEs in Infrastructure and Application support teams to develop and implement Cloud AZ DR Invocation Plans: o Create detailed and comprehensive AZ DR invocation plans for our Azure (3 data centres) and OCI (1 data centre) environments. o Define Recovery Time Capability (RTCs) and Recovery Point Capability (RPCs) for critical applications and services within the cloud environment. o Coordinate the documentation of step-by-step procedures for failover and failback operations across AZs and Regions. o Ensure DR plans encompass all necessary components, including network, compute, storage, and application dependencies. • Bridge Operational Model gap: o Establish clear ownership and accountability for cloud-based DR plans within the organisation's Target Operating Model (TOM). o Define and implement processes for ongoing maintenance, testing, and updates of the DR invocation plans. o Collaborate with relevant teams (cloud engineering, risk, security, application development) to ensure appropriate alignment and integration of DR strategies. • Work with Operational Resilience and First/Second Line Risk to ensure compliance with external regulatory requirements and internal controls: o Ensure all DR plans comply with relevant regulatory requirements, including DORA. o Implement and maintain robust internal controls to guarantee the integrity and effectiveness of the DR program. o Document all processes and procedures to support audits and regulatory reviews. • Testing and Validation: o Develop and execute comprehensive testing plans to validate the effectiveness of the DR invocation plans. o Conduct regular DR exercises and simulations. o Analyse test results and identify areas for improvement. o Plan and execute the full exercising of DR plans in 2025. • Knowledge Transfer and Training: o Provide training and knowledge transfer to relevant teams on cloud DR procedures and best practices. o Develop and maintain documentation and training materials. • Vendor Management (if applicable): o Manage relationships with cloud service providers and any third-party vendors involved in DR activities. o Ensure vendor compliance with SLAs and contractual obligations.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Educational Qualification We always support colleagues to develop their skills but to be successful in this role the following will be required: • Minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in in disaster recovery planning and implementation, specifically within cloud environments (Azure and OCI preferred) • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, infrastructure, and services • Proven experience in developing and executing DR test plans and exercises • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, including DORA • Excellent project management and communication skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Experience with on-premise data centre DR plans and invocation is very useful • Any relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Foundations, Disaster Recovery certifications) are desirable. • Applicants must be fluent in both verbal and written English to communicate with our business users and stakeholders. Whilst working within the audit and governance frameworks. • Ability to challenge and speak up in discussions with colleagues of all levels Educational Qualification: • Graduate/Masters in any discipline • Min 3+ years of Disaster Recovery management experience • Cloud certifications would be an added advantage
