      Internship Overview:

      The Alzheimer’s Association has multiple openings for dynamic students with a keen desire to make an impact on their community. If you are adaptable, creative and love to take the initiative, we want to talk to you!

      The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Intern will be a member of both the Program Department and Health Systems Departments and will report to the Health Systems Director. The intern will assist in building collaborative and strategic community partnerships, as well as recruit and engage diverse community leaders and volunteers within health systems. Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is highly preferred. This position is a hybrid of in-person and remote work.

      Internship locations include: Atlanta Georgia, Houston Texas, Baltimore Maryland, Richmond Virginia and Los Angeles California.

      Core Responsibilities

      • Outreach to local Federally Qualified Health Clinics and health systems.
      • Work with clinics to provide health education, and support the Alzheimer’s Association’s quality improvement projects with health systems.
      • Assist the Health Systems Department to connect underrepresented and underserved constituents to the Alzheimer’s Association resources and services.
      • Coordinate with volunteers to deliver Alzheimer’s educational programs on college campuses.
      • Manage local chapter community forums events.
      • Plan and host 1 fall campus event to promote the Thurgood Marshall College Fund internship opportunity.
      • Help identify potential diverse volunteers who will reach underserved communities.
      • Identify the needs, strengths, and challenges of underrepresented and underserved communities.
      • Attend Home Office professional development opportunities and conferences.
      • Other duties related to the role as assigned

      Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

      • Students must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university
      • Have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and good driving record
      • Strong written and oral communication skills in English
      • Oral and written skills to communicate well in Spanish are preferred
      • Proficiency with Microsoft office tools, Google suite of applications and web-based programs
      • Volunteer and community outreach experience preferred
      • Ability to work independently
      • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
      • High personal integrity, reliability and adaptability
      • Ability to navigate social platforms and collaboration technology such as Zoom for presentations

      Position Title: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Health Systems Intern

      Location: Atlanta Georgia, Houston Texas, Baltimore Maryland, Richmond Virginia and Los Angeles California.

      Hours: Part time, paid internship of 10 -12 hours/week, with potential for 30 hours/week over the summer.
