What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct interviews to determine eligibility for public assistance programs, including Financial, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and Medicaid
- Process applications and case actions in compliance with Federal and State requirements
- Gather and review necessary data, documents, and verifications for benefit programs
- Explain program requirements and application procedures to clients, answering any questions they may have
- Utilize internal software for ongoing eligibility determinations and case management
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Four years of experience in a customer service role with public contact or in financial eligibility determination, or one year of equivalent out-of-state experience in public assistance
- Ability to learn and utilize various computer programs effectively
- Strong communication skills for interacting with diverse populations in challenging situations
- Capability to analyze complex regulations and procedures
- Proficiency in prioritizing and managing multiple tasks in a busy office environment
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience working with underserved populations or in a role that required confidentiality and sensitivity
- Familiarity with complex technical regulations and procedures related to public assistance programs
- Skills in calming individuals in difficult situations and providing clear guidance
