What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform daily revenue integrity audits and charge reconciliation for the Emergency Department (ED)
- Monitor patient boards and review census and discharges to ensure accurate documentation for charge capture
- Collaborate with internal customers, including hospital staff and ED care providers, to resolve documentation issues
- Assign appropriate charges and modifiers in accordance with coding guidelines
- Gather and report trends regarding billing errors to revenue cycle leadership
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum high school education or GED required
- At least 1 year of experience in an acute healthcare setting with charge entry or healthcare billing
- Certified Coding Credentials (e.g., RHIT, RHIA, CPC, CPC-H, CCA, CCS, or CCS-P) required for ED Revenue Integrity Specialist II
- 3 years of prior outpatient coding or related ED experience required for ED Revenue Integrity Specialist II
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with charging for infusion and injection medications
- Previous experience in ED facility coding
- Strong familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and billing systems, preferably Cerner and McKesson STAR
