What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Write and send notifications on breaking incidents, including crime, fires, and emergencies
- Provide continuous real-time coverage of ongoing large-scale events
- Serve as the point person for the editorial calendar and distribution plans for expected events
- Make rapid distribution decisions to notify relevant users about significant events
- Analyze audience engagement metrics to inform editorial strategies
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in journalism, digital media, news curation, or audience engagement
- Proven ability to analyze audience engagement metrics and apply insights to editorial decisions
- Strong awareness of social, political, and cultural dynamics that may impact coverage
- Exceptional writing, editing, and headline-crafting skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and make effective decisions under tight deadlines
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience writing notifications for an app or news organization
- Familiarity with public safety issues and community engagement strategies
- Understanding of credible sourcing and news verification processes
