Job Description

- Manage telephone calls, emails, messages, and communicate to appropriate personnel.
- Excellent communication skills with students, staff, and families.
- Maintain school records and files for building, principal, and related requirements.
- Document immunization requirements and report to state.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and student count.
- Distribute mail.
- Welcome and assist visitors with a kind and friendly demeanor.
- Type, prepare, distribute, files records/reports, correspondence, mailings, etc. related to building functions and principal needs.
- Maintain a highly organized office for cohesive workflow.
- Orientate substitute teachers.
- Process attendance/payroll for the building staff.
- Take/transcribe notes for correspondence.
- Provide appropriate first aid needs and address a variety of student health issues.
- Order, process, and maintain office materials and equipment.
- Serve as confidential secretary to the principal.
- Administer medication according to policy and regulations.
- Operate standard office equipment.
- High aptitude using Macintosh software.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Three to five years in general administrative assistant work and/or training.
- School administrative assistant experience preferred.
- Highly effective organization skills and takes initiative.

Education and/or Experience:
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from the community, regulatory agencies or staff members.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and ledgers.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Position requires sustained periods of sitting and working on computer and office equipment.
Position requires standing and walking throughout buildings.

Position involves frequent repetitive action on a keyboard.
