What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assist a Project Manager in developing federally funded improvement projects for state-owned airports
- Negotiate engineering consultant contracts and review project designs for quality and compliance
- Coordinate technical issues and manage project scopes, budgets, and schedules
- Provide guidance on federal and state airport design standards
- Support the planning, designing, and delivering of projects that improve vital airport services
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or land surveying from an ABET-accredited institution
- Minimum of two years of engineering, architectural, or land surveying experience, with one year at the working or intermediate trainee level
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) required for the Engineer/Architect 1 level
- Valid Driver's License preferred but not essential
- Strong problem-solving skills and technical competence in engineering principles
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience as an Engineering Assistant 2 with the State of Alaska or equivalent elsewhere
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate issued by a state or verification of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination
- Eight years of progressively responsible work experience in engineering, land surveying, or architecture
- Graduate study in engineering or architecture may substitute for required experience
- Familiarity with aviation design standards and practices
