What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assist in overseeing the construction program and maintenance projects to ensure compliance with relevant regulations
- Conduct quality inspections of construction work on highways, bridges, and related facilities
- Prepare daily inspection reports and maintain electronic project records
- Provide engineering technical support through materials sampling, testing, and calculations
- Perform field inspections as required, necessitating a valid driver’s license
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Education typically acquired through completion of high school
- No specific experience required for Engineering Assistant 6 level
- Minimum of one year of experience for Engineering Assistant 7 level
- Minimum of two years of experience, including one year at the Engineering Assistant 7 level, for Engineering Assistant E8 level
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in inspecting transportation projects or construction-related fields
- Relevant industry certifications such as Aggregate, Density, Bituminous, or Concrete
- Familiarity with engineering principles and practices related to construction projects
- Previous experience in a government or public service role
- Participation in relevant workforce programs or internships
