What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Plan, organize, direct, and review the work of professional and technical staff, and consultants involved in Public Works Improvement Projects
- Manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring compliance with project scope and agreement provisions
- Represent the Department before various stakeholders and prepare cooperative agreements for project design and construction
- Direct the inspection and evaluation of construction work, ensuring conformity to plans and specifications
- Oversee consultant and contractor procurement to ensure optimal project delivery and compliance standards
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field
- Four years of professional engineering experience, including two years in a lead, administrative, or supervisory capacity with project management responsibilities
- Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs
- Knowledge of engineering principles as they apply to solid waste, hazardous waste, and environmental regulations
- Ability to prioritize and supervise the work of professional engineers and technical staff

- Experience in environmental design, budget management, and landfill remediation projects
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks
- Proven experience in long-term development planning for monitoring and remediation systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders
