What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Complete NEPA and SEPA environmental review and permitting to ensure compliance with environmental laws
- Identify and evaluate environmental effects of highway features and construction methods
- Recommend strategies for minimizing impacts to protected resources in collaboration with project teams
- Perform fieldwork supporting project design, construction, and post-construction activities
- Serve as the primary environmental point of contact for project engineering offices
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Advanced knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, including NEPA and SEPA
- Demonstrated expertise in environmental permit development and compliance
- Proficient in analyzing environmental data and translating findings into regulatory compliance recommendations
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills in evaluating complex regulatory scenarios
- Ability to communicate regulatory requirements clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience coordinating complex environmental permitting for transportation or infrastructure projects
- Advanced knowledge of strategic permitting approaches and regulatory risks
- Familiarity with agency-specific processes and project delivery knowledge
- History of building productive working relationships with internal and external partners
- Experience in environmental staff mentorship and technical guidance
