What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Design, coordinate, implement, and evaluate landfill abatement initiatives aligned with the Solid Waste Management Plan
- Research and develop best practices, providing analysis and recommendations for landfill abatement projects
- Manage requests for proposals, contracts, and grants to support project implementation
- Develop and maintain partnerships with residents, businesses, and governmental agencies for program success
- Create educational materials and presentations to promote waste management best practices
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree in physical or biological sciences, environmental health, sustainability, or a related field; OR an Associate's Degree with two years of relevant experience; OR an equivalent combination totaling four years
- Valid driver's license
- Demonstrated project management skills in environmental programs
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations
- Ability to analyze data and communicate technical information effectively
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in solid waste management programs (e.g., waste reduction, recycling)
- Background in developing and managing contracts or proposals
- Familiarity with gathering and analyzing data for program evaluation
- Skills in preparing and managing program budgets
- Experience in providing environmental education to diverse audiences
