What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Make waste determinations for solid and hazardous waste
- Coordinate hazardous waste containerization, labeling, and profiling
- Prepare and submit annual reports to regulatory agencies such as IDEM and EPA
- Conduct container inspections and maintain records management
- Provide hazardous waste awareness training to staff involved in waste generation
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in science, environmental engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a related environmental field
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving record
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions and traverse difficult terrain
- Proficiency in writing reports and developing environmental training materials
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Understanding of sampling procedures required by EPA Standard Methods
- Willingness to operate a small boat and knowledge of safe boating practices
- Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent certifications
- Certifications such as Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP)
- Experience in the energy industry, manufacturing, or related environmental sectors
