- Operational & Strategic Support: Work closely with Cox Conserves and other cross-functional groups to support enterprise-wide waste and recycling operations and strategic programmatic development
- Data Collection & Verification: Support the collection and verification of waste data for hundreds of locations across the Cox family of businesses
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with other team members across the organization to keep sustainability and zero waste at the forefront of Cox’s company culture
- Other Duties: The intern may have other duties as assigned
- Pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in environmental science, sustainability, or a related field
- Passion for resource conservation and an interest in environmental sustainability
- Understanding of organizational sustainability and stakeholder engagement practices
- Familiarity with zero waste management and principles
- Experience with Microsoft 365 apps and services such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- LEED, SWANA, TRUE, ISSP, or similar certifications
- Strong operational and project management abilities
- Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proven critical thinking skills and the ability to problem-solve
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- This role may require up to 15-25% travel to various business locations and external engagements.

Compensation
Hourly base pay rate is $21.49 - $32.26/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.Job Description
Cox Enterprises is hiring an Environmental Sustainability Intern – Waste & Recycling to join our team! The Waste & Recycling Intern will work closely with the Cox Conserves Recycling & Waste Diversion team and collaborate with others across the organization to support enterprise-wide waste and recycling operations. The intern will assist with many functions of the team, including working with internal and external partners to develop, implement, and optimize waste reduction and diversion activities, facilitate data collection and verification efforts, and represent Cox’s waste strategy and achievements both within and outside the organization.
This role will support Cox in maintaining its status as a certified zero waste business and making progress on newly developed waste and recycling targets.

Working Conditions
Intern/Co-Op sessions are considered temporary employment. No full-time employment commitments are made. However, depending on our business needs, some interns may be considered for a full-time position following the conclusion of the session conditioned upon the intern graduating from their academic program and being available to commence full-time employment at a specified time.
