Coverage analysis and determinations;
Catastrophic claim investigation;
Claim strategy formulation and execution; and
The ability to accurately and effectively evaluate, reserve, negotiate, and resolve complex claims within prescribed authority levels.
Analyze policy language in conjunction with specific loss facts to reach appropriate and timely coverage decisions, then communicate those decisions via Reservation of Rights, disclaimers, etc. in compliance with state statutes and regulatory requirements.
Determine and execute an investigation and evidence preservation strategy to uncover needed information and preserve evidence, witnesses, testimony, etc. essential to our Members’ defenses.
Identify liability and damages defenses available to the Member and execute a strategy to achieve them.
Establish appropriate initial loss and expense reserves on complex and severe cases and continually evaluate the file for adequacy, accuracy, and adherence to reserving guidelines. Regularly and timely draft and present Large Loss Notice evaluations (and other detailed reporting documents), as appropriate.
Keep agents and Members up to date on all claim developments and respond timely to inquiries from Members, agents, vendors, defense and plaintiff attorneys, etc.
Own data integrity in claim and policy administration system regarding claims within pending.
Obtain budgets and steward costs from outside vendors, including independent adjusters, defense counsel, and coverage counsel.
Effectively present and discuss facts of loss and present opinions on value and strategy in roundtable discussions with peers, claims management, and executive leaders.
Contribute as Subject Matter Expert facilitating internal training of colleagues on topics of special interest in consultation with claims leadership.
Support both internal and external business partners as casualty Subject Matter Expert in dealing with cross-functional teams (underwriting, actuarial, etc.) and agency partners regarding technical/functional business requirements and business development.
Serve as a technical resource within the Casualty Department through mentoring and knowledge-sharing, whether one-on-one, in small groups, or presentations to the larger department.
10+ years of direct Property and Casualty Insurance experience.
5+ years experience in handling both auto and general liability litigated files, complex first and third-party bodily injury, and complex coverage claims.
Proven ability to handle complex exposures in excess of $750,000 in value.
Experience handling litigated files, arbitration, and mediation, and a comfort level regarding in-person attendance at legal proceedings as required.
Experience within the high net worth industry a plus.
Working knowledge of excel, word, and email applications.
Travel required up to 25%
A Bachelor’s degree is required.
Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning and professional development including completion of one or more advanced educational or industry designations such as JD, MBA, CPCU, AIC, or CCLA.
Excellent interpersonal, listening, written, and oral communication skills.
Highly detailed and organized, capable of prioritizing multiple tasks and assuring consistently high levels of accuracy.
Demonstrate integrity, exhibit team spirit, and enthusiasm, and establish trust and credibility.
Agile learner who can quickly absorb information and apply it to current business situations.
About the role.
The Executive Claim Analyst is a key member of the Casualty Claims Department reporting to the Large Loss Casualty Manager and may be based remotely out of their home or a regional PURE office. The primary goal of this position is to handle our most severe and complex claims while delivering flawless service to our members. This person will handle first and third-party claims in a quality manner and meet our high standards of accuracy, efficiency, quality customer service, and regulatory compliance.

The base salary for this role can range from $110k-$130k, based on a full-time work schedule. An individual’s ultimate compensation will vary depending on job-related skills and experience, geographic location, alignment with market data, and equity among other team members with comparable experience.
