      The Role
      The world's leading auction house, Christie's, is currently seeking an Executive Editor, Americas to join their content team in New York. Reporting to the Head of Marketing Americas (interim to the CMO), with a dotted line to the Global Head of Content, they work closely with the Americas marketing strategy, social media and video teams as well as the department specialists’ teams, and in collaboration with their editorial counterparts in other regions. This fast-paced dynamic role will oversee all written editorial content for the Americas division. They will be responsible for developing and overseeing editorial processes, managing a team of writers and editors, and creating world-class written content, laddering up to the strategy laid out by the Global Head of Content. Christie's editorial leverages the company's inherent stories through access to incredible artworks, unique partnerships and 'behind the scenes' with experts, artists and industry insiders.

      Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

      • Have a strong knowledge of the fine art and luxury categories to find and develop engaging editorial stories

      • Collaborate with video, social media, and marketing strategy teams to build best-in-class 360 omni-channel content campaigns for key calendar moments

      • Approve the content, design, style, and tone of features aligning with brand guidelines

      • Manage daily trafficking and scheduling across editorial, visuals, and production for fast-paced NY based editorial team

      • Own and update department calendar: build out, prioritize, and communicate deadlines and publishing cadences across matrixed and global teams

      • Ensure timely publication to strategically align with marketing, press and pre-and post-sale deadlines

      • Lead the America’s contribution to Christie’s weekly digital magazine: Going Once

      • Recruit and develop writers, editors, and other editorial support staff

      • Partner with finance to develop and manage budgets for the editorial team

      • Partner with global editorial and copy teams to ensure consistency of voice across Christie’s platforms beginning with site

      • Demonstrate a strong understanding of art, luxury, and cultural trends to develop and produce editorial stories that show Christie’s leadership within the larger cultural conversation

      • Write and edit stories as needed

      • Analyze data and drive engagement through evergreen and dedicated sale content

      • Ensure that the team is considering best practice when it comes to SEO and conversion metrics

      • Work closely with the global content team to set and deliver the future year-to-year strategy for the brand's editorial division

      The Candidate

      • Minimum of 7 years of editorial experience at fast-paced auction house, gallery, museum, digital publication or agency

      • Demonstrated experience in art journalism, including a driving interest in unearthing consumer needs through data analysis

      • Exceptional project management skills

      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

      • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

      • Team player with a proven ability to juggle multiple projects while adhering to tight deadlines within a fast-paced environment

      • Highly proficient with software and other tools used for editing, reviewing, uploading, and transferring manuscripts and promotional materials

      • Familiarity with using a CMS

      • A passion for the art world online, and knowledge or interest in relevant art-related digital platforms

      • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple cross-functional teams

      • Demonstrated ability to remain calm in stressful situations and creatively problem solve

      • Be a data driven editor who respects SEO and understands how to build content that’s performance based

      Salary: $95,000.00 - $105,000.00
