- Conduct intake sessions with hiring leaders on Executive search positions, to fully understand and appreciate the characteristics of their ideal candidate regarding knowledge, skills, abilities, and cultural fit.
- Be the SME for running a search following our Core and Common process and become an expert on effective search strategies.
- Serve as a role model for the TA team and assist the Recruiters with their search strategies as needed.
- Provide Recruiting consulting services to campus partners including competitive market analysis and internal pay equity on Executive positions.
- Support and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
- Contextualize and assist hiring departments to understand how Talent utilizes digital outreach and social media to bolster candidate identification and sourcing.
- Review and assess resumes of passive candidates and applicants, submitting only pre-vetted candidates to departments and search committees.
- Search committee administration.
- Preparing power point presentations and presenting to large groups across campus including HR
- Provide project management support and oversight for high level recruiting, including shepherding the search firms when used.
- Execute Talent Acquisition short and long-term strategies.
- Manage Search Firms contracts and services, along with the relationship with vendors, and provide oversight of the searches being conducted on VU’s campus.
- Develop a data repository on all search firms with active contracts, develop a feedback mechanism for tracking success/opinion of the department on firm and commitment to excellence.
- Driving a high level of client satisfaction
- Utilize the ATS to manage job postings and candidate process.
- Assist in the hiring of Recruiters and Talent Coordinators
- Participate in special projects teams and work on various recruitment or HR initiatives in order to enhance the experience of our customers, colleagues, and candidates.
- Champion employer branding efforts and take a lead in Branding and Social Media work as needed.
- Possibly attend outside career events and outreach
- Attend, and occasionally lead in absence of leadership- recruiting and leadership meetings
- Recruiting projects and administrative functions assigned specifically by the Senior Director of Talent Acquisition.
- Other tasks as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
- At least 5 to 10 years of experience in full-cycle recruiting is necessary.
- 3 years of recent Executive Recruiting experience.
- Experience with building trusted advisor relationships to inform and influence business decisions among a diverse group of clients and colleagues.
- Experience being a skilled communicator and influencer at all strata of an organization, including C-suite and executive leaders.
- Ability to translate trends and metrics into tangible staffing plans and outcomes or use data and analytics to inform decision making processes and action planning in a client-facing environment.
- Presentation skills, to both colleagues, large groups and conferences
- Actively engaged in the community to grow the employer brand and plan recruiting events.
- Excellent time management, project management and communication skills.
- Fluency in social media and digital outreach from a professional perspective.
- Engage with community partners and plan recruiting events.
- Ability to adapt to new tools and technologies.
- Proactive, driven and able to work independently while keeping leaders included and informed when necessary.
The Executive Recruiter is part of the Talent Acquisition Department in Human Resources at Vanderbilt University and is an individual contributor responsible for managing aspects of and facilitating the recruitment process for staff positions at the university. This position serves as subject matter expert for pipeline development, sourcing, and expert management of the search process overall. This position is responsible for role modeling a strategic approach to full life cycle recruiting and providing recruitment expertise to our customers across campus for an array of roles ranging from those situated in world-class research labs, supporting and enhancing the experience of our students, to the administration of the university’s business and operational needs, and more. Reporting directly to the Talent Acquisition Manager the Executive Recruiter Role will work closely with the Senior Director to ensure a high-quality candidate and hiring manager experience within our hiring process.
Talent Acquisition is an ambitious and enthusiastic team that manages the overall process of attracting and selecting talent for staff and professional positions at Vanderbilt University, with a focus on creating a world-class experience for our candidates and for the hiring managers with whom we consult. The team fills ~1,200 positions annually for a variety of roles ranging from service, skilled trades, and administrative support staff roles to professionals in research, student and academic affairs, athletics, IT, business services, public safety, leadership, and more.
