What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Oversee facility design and construction services for County departments, providing recommendations on projects
- Develop project master plans, prepare bid documents, and procure professional services and construction contracts
- Ensure compliance of contractors and consultants with project plans and specifications
- Establish project priorities and schedules for timely completion of construction projects
- Represent the County in community meetings and maintain current knowledge of professional practices
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional architectural or engineering planning, design, or construction experience as a licensed Registered Architect (R.A.) or Professional Engineer (P.E.)
- One (1) year of lead, management, or project management experience
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- License to practice as a Registered Architect (R.A.) or Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Texas or ability to obtain reciprocity within six (6) months of hire
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with project management and contract management in the construction industry
- Familiarity with computer-aided drafting and design (CAD) methods
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to construction and architecture
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
