What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Interpret clinical documentation to ensure accurate alignment of coding and billing codes
- Review medical records and perform audits to ensure coding compliance and accuracy
- Provide guidance on coding practices and assist with education and training of staff
- Conduct ongoing audits of inpatient and outpatient medical records to ensure proper code assignments
- Collaborate with various departments to resolve coding denials and billing issues
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of 5 years of recent acute-care inpatient coding experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Health Information Management
- Current certification through AAPC or AHIMA
- Thorough knowledge of ICD coding and DRG/CPT coding principles
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
