      FAMILIES FIRST WORKERS - SOCIAL WORKERS - DETROIT-AREA - Westland, Dearborn, Southfield and Warren

      Are you ready to make a positive change in families lives? Do you have two years field experience working with children and families in a family-centered, solution-focused environment? Do you have a Bachelor’s degree in SOCIAL WORK or comparable human service field?

      You can make a big impact with children and families in DETROIT-METRO / WAYNE COUNTY if you have a degree in social work or related field. We are on the hunt for person-centric colleagues to join our Families First of Michigan team doing impactful work! This vital role involves intensive, home-based, 28-day interventions with a two-family-caseload that focuses on the family’s strengths, utilizing their own resilience, as they become self-sufficient. Our staff spend an average of 10 hours a week with these families, face-to-face, with the goal of keeping children with their families. The time spent will be both traditional and non-traditional work hours. Come check us out! We have full time opportunities servicing cases in Wayne County.

      This FULL TIME ROLE offers a flexible / non-traditional schedule including but not limited to weekends & holidays, based on your client's needs, with a $38,480 annual salary.

      Job Summary

      Provides intensive, short term or long-term in-home crisis intervention and family education, based on program specification, to families at risk of out-of-home placement to children due to abuse, neglect, delinquency or homelessness related to domestic violence.

      Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provide in-home crisis oriented treatment, education and support to family units where one or more family members may be placed outside the home in foster, group, or institutional care or, be at-risk of being removed from the home
    • Provide a range of interventions to children, adults, and families, using acceptable treatment methodologies consistent with the Family Preservation best practice model
    • Actively participate as a member of team meetings; keep all members informed of case status and progress; provide oral and written reports as needed and make recommendations about case goals, alternative service plans, action steps and activities for treatment plans
    • Assist clients to clearly define presenting problems, devise methods and goals for resolution, assess their progress toward treatment goals and plan termination
    • Present cases to supervisor for review of treatment plans and progress on a regularly scheduled basis
    • Provide appropriate referrals for clients requiring additional or alternative services
    • Assume therapeutic responsibility for all cases on assigned caseload; conduct intake, assessment and scheduling of all assigned clients
    • Collaborate with referral sources, agencies, institutions and individuals who have important roles in the family’s life situation. Provide advocacy and professional consultation work with the referring organization, schools, court, and other social service agencies as needed
    • Complete client follow up at intervals as outlined
    • Complete and maintain all reports, statistics and assignments as required. Enter all required data in required systems in a timely manner
    • Participate in all required training and effectively implement learned skills

      Job Qualifications

      Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification

      • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in social work or comparable human service field
      • Valid driver’s license with good driving record; reliable ongoing personal transportation suitable for safely transporting clients; current automobile registration and proof of automobile insurance

      Experience

      • Minimum two years field experience working with multi-problem children and families with ability to relate to and engage with these families preferred
      • Experience in strength-based, family-centered, solution focused approaches beneficial#humanservices #childwelfare #socialwork
