- For positions that allow remote working flexibility, working outside of Wisconsin or in bordering cities will not be allowed except in extremely limited circumstances due to the need to report to an office location in Wisconsin on short notice.
- Employees must have access to both a private workspace and secure high-speed internet for remote work option. Mileage reimbursement to the employee's headquarter location is not provided. Remote work flexibility will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.

- Experience performing financial duties and reconciling transactions. (e.g., reviewing, reconciling, and auditing financial transactions and documentation, performing financial data analysis, etc.)
- Experience using MS-Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, etc.) and financial software such as Peoplesoft.
- Experience working with shared software systems such as SharePoint.
- Training or experience working with the Grants Enrollment Application and Reporting System (GEARS), or similar sub Granting or Contract management systems.
- Experience in State or Governmental Accounting Policies and Procedures.
- Experience auditing, reviewing, or processing financial contracts or similar documents.
- Experience providing training or technical assistance to internal and external customers in a professional setting. (e.g., explaining guidelines to customers, responding to questions regarding payments, training staff on processes, etc.).
- Associate degree or above in finance, accounting, business, or data analysis related field.

Introduction
The Department of Health Services (DHS) , Division of Enterprise Services (DES), Bureau of Fiscal Services (BFS) is recruiting for a Financial Specialist Senior.
This position will be expected to work onsite at one of our central or regional offices a minimum 1 day every two weeks with the opportunity of 9 days of remote work over a 2-week period. This schedule may vary based on training or operational need.

Position Summary
As the Financial Specialist Senior in the Expenditure Accounting Section, you will be responsible for reviewing, entering data, monitoring, and record keeping of community aids contracts, expenses, profiles, pre-contract packets and performing detailed analysis (pre-audit) of financial documents prior to their posting into the aids reporting system and the statewide accounting system (STAR/Peoplesoft). Responsibilities include auditing, analyzing, and approving contracts with a variety of funding sources according to state accounting policy and procedures and fiscal requirements.

Salary Information
The starting pay is $26.61 per hour (approximately $55,300 per year) for hires after June 28, 2026, plus excellent benefits. This is the minimum pay for all Financial Specialist Seniors after this date. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 02/13.
