      POSITION OVERVIEW

      The Fine Arts Technical Director & AV Tech Coordinator is responsible for leading the technical design, execution, and management of all audio-visual operations across campus and Fine Arts productions at CCS. This role provides strategic and creative leadership for A/V technology across school events, chapel services, performances, and facility rentals, while also overseeing the technical direction and student support for Fine Arts productions. The position requires artistic and technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and independent judgment to support the school’s mission and deliver high-quality, Christ-centered experiences.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

      AV Systems Leadership & Event Support

      • Plan, design, and manage A/V solutions for events, performances, and chapel services across Lower, Middle, and High School divisions.
      • Lead the technical execution of audio and visual systems, including troubleshooting, editing, recording, and live production.
      • Provide A/V support for campus-wide events, leadership meetings, and rentals, ensuring equipment readiness and professional execution.
      • Evaluate equipment needs and make recommendations for procurement and upgrades based on program and production goals.
      • Collaborate with the FAC Coordinator and Creative Directors to align technical execution with artistic vision and event requirements.

      Theater Technical Direction

      • Serve as the Technical Director for all Fine Arts Center productions, overseeing lighting, sound, set construction, and stage management.
      • Collaborate with directors and production staff in pre-production planning, including advising on technical needs, creative design elements, and feasibility.
      • Supervise and mentor student and non-student tech teams and crews during all phases of production (build, rehearsals, performances, strike).
      • Lead technical rehearsals and ensure the smooth operation of performances, providing support as needed in sound, lighting, or backstage management.
      • Ensure safety standards and facility care in the Fine Arts Center during all Fine Arts activities.

      Student Training & Leadership Development

      • Recruit, train, and mentor student A/V and tech teams for chapel and production support.
      • Foster a culture of responsibility, service, and professionalism among student participants in technical roles.
      • Provide ongoing coaching and hands-on skill development in technical theater and AV operations.

      Operational Oversight & Facility Coordination

      • Coordinate logistics for internal and external events (rental use) in the Fine Arts Center, including facility setup, tech planning, and post-event follow-up.
      • Maintain and inventory all AV and theater equipment, soft goods, lighting instruments, and tech booth systems.
      • Develop and document operational procedures and safety guidelines for use of the Fine Arts Center and AV resources.

      Creative Collaboration & Mission Alignment

      • Partner with school leaders to ensure all A/V and theater experiences reflect the mission, values, and theological distinctives of CCS.
      • Bring creative, high-quality solutions to enhance storytelling, worship, and educational engagement through media and design.

      Other Responsibilities

      • Support summer camps, chapel, and school events as scheduled.
      • Attend required in-service and professional development sessions.
      • Other duties as assigned in support of the school’s strategic and operational needs.

      QUALIFICATIONS

      • Personal faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to the mission of Chattanooga Christian School
      • Requires vision to read small print.
      • Requires the mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend. Requires mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects.
      • Requires the ability to stand for extended periods.
      • Requires the ability to walk long distances.
      • Requires lifting, pushing, and/or pulling which does not typically exceed twenty-five pounds and is an infrequent aspect of the job.
      • Is subject to normal inside and outside environmental conditions.
      • Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position.
      • High School diploma
      • Proficient with ProPresenter
      • 3+ years of related experience required
      • Highly motivated and able to work independently
      • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively across departments and with a variety of constituents
      • Ability to problem-solve and think creatively
