What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Process accounts payable transactions and journal voucher entries for client agencies
- Analyze transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with state and federal requirements
- Communicate with client agencies and vendors to ensure timely and accurate posting of transactions
- Reconcile accounts payable general ledgers and prepare fiscal year-end entries
- Utilize various financial systems and resources to complete assigned tasks
What is Required (Qualifications):
- At least five (5) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or relevant financial field
- An Associate's Degree and two and a half (2-1/2) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or a relevant financial field
- A Bachelor's Degree in accounting, public administration, business administration, or a related field, along with at least six (6) months of relevant experience
- A Master's degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and state government accounting rules
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Two (2) years of Accounts Payable experience
- Knowledge and experience using the statewide accounting system, Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS)
- Familiarity with the Statewide Accounting & Administrative Manual (SAAM)
- Experience with preparing federal miscellaneous tax returns, Form 1099
- Ability to analyze data and prepare unclaimed property and excise tax reports
