Position Summary
The Fitness Manager is responsible for upholding the mission of Lawndale Christian Health Center by overseeing
daily operations at the Lawndale Christian Fitness Center (LCFC). This includes supervision of a variety of support
staff, managing supplies and the physical environment of the clinic, troubleshooting, serving as an advocate for
member and staff needs, and managing the financial and operational performance objectives for LCFC.The base salary range is $60,320 - $70,512 annually. Compensation will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and years of experience.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities*
• Facility Supervision - Responsible for planning and coordinating use of space and facility resources, in
collaboration with Director of Wellness and LCHC leadership. Ensuring an appropriate environment for the
proper functioning of the Fitness Center, including the management of equipment, supplies and other
materials, the cleanliness, organization, and functioning of all public and private spaces, and the utilization
of any other physical resources.
• Staff Supervision – directly manage Fitness Center staff, including processes of hiring, firing, training,
evaluating, motivating, and disciplining in accordance with organizational values and culture.
• Manage Daily Operations - including scheduling staff, managing member experience, ensuring clean and
safe facilities, tracking equipment maintenance, and optimizing performance at LCFC.
• Reporting & Monitoring Performance - Responsible for providing consistent communication ensuring that
information, reports, and materials are provided to clearly describe fitness programs/activities and
progress toward agreed upon financial, operational and missional objectives
• Marketing - Work closely with the Communications & Marketing team to advertise and promote fitness
center services
• Leadership Liaison - Serving as a liaison between organizational leadership team and staff. Work in
conjunction with centralized LCHC leadership to ensure organizational processes are implemented and
monitored.
• Customer Service Champion - support as needed with customer service, implementing policies,
answering questions, complaints and incident management.
• Programming - Work with staff to ensure the implementation of routine fitness programming, including
recruiting qualified instructors for variety of high-performing fitness classesRecreation Leagues – supervision of adult sports and recreation leagues
• Performing other duties as required to assist LCHC in achieving its mission.Required Skills or Abilities*
Interpersonal communication and mediation skills to successfully lead, motivate, and collaborate with a very
diverse staff in a variety of capacities.Requires knowledge of the fitness industry - experience in club management, program design, and staff
supervision in fitness industry.Organizational skills for ensuring the completion of a large volume of work in a systematic manner.
Initiative and creativity for problem solving and pro-active improvement of the clinic operations.
Able to teach group exercise classes, fitness testing, and advise on fitness and wellbeing.
Available to work evenings and weekends and comfortable with working on the floor.
Capable of exemplifying the values of Lawndale Christian Health Center in all circumstances.
Required Knowledge, Experience, or Licensure/Registration
Basic knowledge of the major functional areas of the organization’s operations, including all clinical, health
support, and administrative departments.Three or more years of direct management experience preferred.
Relevant college degree or experience in fitness management, administration, or other area of operations
preferred.ACSM, NASM, ACE, or AFFA certified preferred.
