      The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) has one (1) exciting fixed-term opportunity up to December 4, 2026 within the People, Culture and Experience branch at the CATSA HQ.

      Summary of responsibilities:
      The French Language Instructor is responsible for facilitating French language training to employees. The French Language Instructor performs all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.


      What you need to succeed
      To qualify for the position, you must have:

      • University or college University Degree or College Diploma in Adult Learning/Education, French Language, or a field of study relevant to the duties of the position.
      • Minimum four (4) years French Language teaching experience
      • Teaching Certification or Certification in Adult Learning or equivalent.
      • Fluently bilingual language proficiency in both French and English, with strong command of language structures, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
      • Strong ability to teach French language concepts clearly and effectively, adapting to various learning styles and proficiency levels.
      • Proficiency in using online teaching platforms, preferable Microsoft teams and various digital teaching tools.
      • Ability to assess language proficiency in a classroom setting to place students in appropriate groups with similar language needs.
      • Capability to manage class schedules, prepare lesson plans and maintain accurate records.
      • Experience using/familiar with CSPS Programme de Français learning materials and Federal Public Service language assessments.
      • Experience employing creative and innovative teaching methods to make language training engaging and effective for adult learners.
      • Ability to build rapport with adult learners, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.


      This position is best suited to individuals with the following skills and abilities:

      • Strong planning and organizational skills.
      • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to develop effective positive working relationships.
      • Ability to analyze situations, identify issues and recommend creative solutions.
      • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including strong listening and questioning skills.
      • Strong client service orientation.


      Valuable skills include:

      • Experience teaching English as a second language is an asset.
      • Experience teaching/evaluating Federal Government employees.
      • Knowledge of or experience working in aviation sector.


      Specific work requirements

      • Language Profile: Bilingual, French CBCC, English BBBB;
      • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; and
      • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
