- Stay updated on industry standards and advancements in functional safety to drive continuous improvement.
- Define and document safety requirements for FPGA technologies & systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Provide expertise in safety processes and methodologies to support the development life cycle.
- Participate in safety reviews and contribute to safety documentation.
- Develop and evaluate safety architectures and mechanisms to mitigate risks and prevent hazardous failures.
- Perform safety verification activities, including fault tree analysis and safety audits.
- Work closely with FuSa certification agency and silicon development team to obtain FuSa certification on various products.
- Conduct hazard analysis (host/facilitate FMEDA) and risk assessments to identify potential safety issues in silicon design.
- Drive internal audits on processes and provide technical safety assessments, execute specific safety analyses, develop functional safety plans, and safety case arguments/evidence.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, quality assurance, and other departments to integrate functional safety practices into the development process.
- Collaborate with development teams (silicon, software tools, solutions, soft IP) to ensure compliance with standards like ISO 26262.
- BE/BS/MS in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- Several years of relevant experience in semiconductor and software development (preferably FPGA), with a focus on functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 and IEC 61508.
- Preferably certified in functional safety, demonstrating a deep understanding of safety-critical systems (e.g., CFSE).
- Experience with safety-critical applications in automotive, aerospace, or industrial domains, and knowledge of fault tolerance mechanisms and SIL (Safety Integrity Level) assessment.
- Proven experience managing complex programs, coordinating cross-functional teams, and delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Proficient in identifying and mitigating safety risks associated with semiconductor and software development.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations, ensuring the company's products comply with industry-specific safety requirements.
- Familiarity with the constituent layers of the FPGA technical solution stack (Silicon, Software, SoftIP).
- A commitment to staying updated on the latest advancements in functional safety and incorporating best practices into the organization's processes.
- Demonstrated leadership skills to guide the team in implementing safety measures and ensuring a safety-conscious culture.
- Thorough documentation skills for maintaining comprehensive records of safety processes and compliance.
- Ability to prepare for and participate in safety audits, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.

Responsibilities & Skills
The Functional Safety (FuSa) Expert in the Program Management office plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless integration of functional safety practices throughout Lattice Semiconductor's FPGA product development lifecycle. Tasked with overseeing and driving the implementation of safety-critical measures, this role combines deep expertise in functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 with strong project management skills.
The FuSa Expert collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, guiding them in adhering to safety regulations and standards. By conducting thorough risk assessments, providing strategic guidance, and fostering a safety-conscious culture, the FuSa Expert contributes to the successful delivery of cutting-edge FPGA solutions that meet the highest safety standards and regulatory requirements. The individual focuses on managing programs that obtain Functional Safety Certification on various FPGA-related products including silicon device, Software tool, soft IPs, and solutions. This position is essential in upholding our commitment to producing reliable and secure FPGA products in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
Required Education, Experience, and Competencies
The pay range for this role is $160,000 - $200,000 per year plus bonus and benefits.
