      Job Description

      Summary

      The General Manager is responsible for all Philadelphia Port activities related to vehicle processing operations. This position will coordinate overall activities with Glovis America HQ (GUS), our customers, and their local representatives. Responsibilities include imported finished vehicle processing and tendering, vehicle subscription services, and rail unloading services. Proactively identifies, analyzes and resolves problems or issues that may arise with customer, client, or employees.

      Responsibilities

      1. Establish KPI in conjunction with GUS Club Elite program and monitor overall facility performance
        • Coordinate facility activities through planning with department managers to ensure facility objectives are achieved
        • Review production and operating reports, and direct the resolution of operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure efficiency and prevent operational delays
        • Determine responsibilities of assigned organization and staff positions to accomplish business objectives
        • Plan, direct and coordinate VPC operations. Responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of departmental operations through effective methods and strategies
        • Provide leadership and training to accomplish company goals and objectives
        • Coordinate manufacturing activities with all other functions of the organization, and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment
        • Implement cost effective systems of control over operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and salaries
        • Control and minimize labor overtime, and repair expenses
        • Develop and maintain manufacturing operations business plans to include all program requirements, labor hours, cycle, production costs, and image
        • Plan budgeting - production goals, headcount, asset expense, etc.
      2. Coordinate and facilitate positive relationships with customers
        • Develop and implement process improvement initiatives
        • Monitor & evaluate quality of all processes and procedures of VPC Operations
        • Analyze quality data to develop countermeasures to correct process deficiencies
        • Create and change departmental processes for continuous process improvement activities
        • Conduct departmental process and safety audits at appropriate intervals
        • Provide direction to direct reports to perform safety audits and reports
        • Improve processes and policies in support of organizational goals
        • Monitor adherence to rules, regulations and procedures
        • Create and submit recommendations for changes to the HQ Operations.
      3. Respond to inquiries from internal and external customers, including HMMA, distributors, and GLOVIS headquarters
        • Ensure frequent and effective communication with direct reports, as well as members of the HQ Operations management team
      4. Other Duties as Assigned

      Compensation

      $142,000-$162,000 Per Year (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)

      Skills

      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills Required
      • Proficient PC skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Database Management Systems Required
      • Proven ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision Required
      • Strong organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills Required
      • Working knowledge of budgets, wage to revenue and financial statements Preferred
      • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume Preferred

      Education & Experience

      • High School Diploma Required
      • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
      • 10 - 15 years of operational knowledge and proven leadership skills in Port Operations Required
      • 13 - 18 years of operational knowledge and proven leadership skills in Port Operations and Vehicle Logistics Preferred
      • 4 - 7 years of managerial experience Required
      • 7 - 10 years of managerial experience Preferred
      • Valid Driver's License Required
