      Located in Northern California, the team at Joby Aviation is driven by our goal of creating an affordable, all-electric air transportation system. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the Joby aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration, scaling our manufacturing, and preparing to launch commercial service in 2025.

      Overview

      As the General Manager of Joby's new flagship manufacturing facility in Dayton, Ohio, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing aspects of our manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for ensuring efficient production while maintaining a strong focus on safety, compliance, and developing the future of Joby's manufacturing processes.

      Responsibilities

      • Lead and contribute to recruiting, training, mentorship, and development programs to drive a high-performing team of managers and staff that will execute and contribute to Joby's short and long-term production goals
      • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the manufacturing team, while ensuring systems, process, tools scale for future growth and production needs
      • Set clear individual, Team, and program delivery performance expectations and monitor progress, addressing any current issues, while providing insight into gaps and future opportunities
      • Develop and implement manufacturing strategies and processes while optimizing production efficiency and quality
      • Maintain and ensure compliance regarding required industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols
      • Partner and collaborate with the R&D, production planning, and supply chain teams to develop and execute against production schedules that meet Joby's short and long-term commercial commitments
      • Implement and maintain a commitment to quality control and continuous improvement, exceeding industry standards
      • Implement and manage the manufacturing budget, tracking expenses and identifying opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness

      Required

      • Bachelor’s in engineering or relevant field
      • Minimal 10+ years of experience in an engineering environment with responsibility for project management, new product introduction, or manufacturing, industrial engineering
      • Exposure to a wide variety of manufacturing execution systems, and production tools
      • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
      • Demonstrated experience in the simultaneous management of multiple high-paced engineering projects
      • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
      • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time

      Desired

      • Aerospace experience a plus
      • Experience with subtractive manufacturing shop management
      • General working knowledge of complex manufacturing
      • General working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning software (ERP)

      The target base pay for this position is $124,000 - $165,300/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
