  Blue Sky is seeking a GIS Specialist to support a county-level planning agency in the development and revision of a comprehensive Environmental Technical Manual. The GIS Specialist will be responsible for developing, managing, validating, and delivering geospatial data products that meet strict government GIS, metadata, projection, and formatting standards.
  
  Location: Hybrid - Prince George's County, Maryland (2-3 days onsite required)
  Security Requirement: Ability to pass a Public Trust background investigation
  Employment Type: Full-Time (Contingent Upon Contract Award)
  Travel: Local travel within Prince George's County, MD as required
  
  Key Responsibilities
  
  • Develop and manage GIS datasets using ESRI ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Server
  • Create and maintain ESRI File Geodatabases
  • Ensure compliance with Maryland State Plane NAD 83 (2011) projection standards
  • Produce mapping products for stakeholder meetings and public presentations
  • Develop metadata compliant with FGDC Level 1 standards or higher
  • Support natural resource inventories and conservation plan mapping
  • Ensure accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.1 Level & Section 508) for GIS outputs
  • Participate in bi-weekly project updates and stakeholder meetings
  
  Required Education
  
  • Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or related field
  
  Required Experience
  
  • Minimum 5 years of professional GIS experience
  • Minimum 3 years supporting public-sector planning or environmental projects
  • Advanced proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Server
  • Experience with File Geodatabase management and FGDC metadata
  • Experience preparing GIS deliverables for regulatory or planning documentation
  
  Preferred Qualifications
  
  • Experience with watershed, coastal, or environmental protection programs
  • Experience supporting county or state planning departments
  • Experience integrating GIS outputs into publication-ready documents
