      About This Role

      As Global Distribution Centre (GDC) Lead, you will be responsible across three main areas: Global Distribution Centre (GDC) Lead, Upstream Warehouse Lead, and Customer Service, Warehousing & Distribution subject matter expert. As GDC Lead, the role oversees a critical operation, managing customer order processing, warehousing services, and fine distribution. Additionally, the Upstream Warehouse Lead manages Biogen's global upstream warehouse network for materials, while serving as the Global Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Customer Service, Warehousing, and Distribution. The role aims to drive customer excellence, standardize processes, enhance operational and commercial aspects, and ensure Biogen's global network delivers top-notch service in quality, compliance, speed, cost, and sustainability.

      What You’ll Do

      • GDC Lead: Operations and commercial lead for the GDC, including operational co-ordination of inbound shipments, customer orders, replenishment, customer service management, final mile distribution and any other GDC services.
      • Upstream warehousing Lead: Operations and commercial lead for transit warehouses globally. Including commercial contract ownership and operational co-ordination of inbound, storage and outbound shipments.
      • Customer Service, Warehousing & Distribution SME: Identifying industry best practices for customer service, warehousing and distribution and working closely with the business and operations teams globally to introduce these standards across Biogen globally. Looking for opportunities to improve and optimize Biogen’s network.
      • Acts as an active member the Global D&L Leadership Team in order to establish and implement the Global D&L strategy

      Who You Are

      You have had ownership of Global Distribution Centre activities, including customer service and warehousing, and had P&L responsibility, fine distribution costs, and transit warehouses. The ideal candidate should have strong leadership skills, engage with senior stakeholders and external suppliers, and make impactful decisions to drive strategic initiatives.

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree or Education in logistics, operations or a related field.
      • Minimum of 10 years operational experience leading a complex warehousing and customer service operation
      • Strong commercial background with ability to negotiate and manage large and complex contracts at a senior level
      • Experience working in a pharma warehouse operation.
      • In‐depth knowledge of customer order management, warehousing and distribution.
      • Able to critically review cross functional process and influence to improve processes.
      • In-depth knowledge of cross functional finance, commercial and operations/Supply Chain processes and interfaces (including order-to-cash, P&L).
      • Strong people and Strategic Relationship Management skills to drive commercial objectives, SC goals, accomplishments and Customer Value Creation.
      • Ability to set out a long term road map, initiate change, drive decision making, and demonstrate resilience and change management leadership.
      • Fluent English and German.
