      Job summary

An opportunity has arisen at Saxon Spires Practice for an enthusiastic, committed and caring GP to join our well-established rural practice as GP Partner, with a mutual assessment period.

We are looking for a 5-8 session GP to work alongside our friendly multi-disciplinary team in line with the GMS Contract, taking responsibility in making professional and autonomous decisions and ensuring effective clinical administration, audit and management appropriate to the role.

Saxon Spires is a large two site dispensing practice based in Guilsborough and Brixworth and the successful candidate will be expected to work at both surgeries.

      Main duties of the job

We are a family friendly practice and have a strong ethos of providing high quality care, while remaining flexible and supportive. We are proud of our excellent patient satisfaction scores and work hard to maintain high standards. We are an established training practice offering support to GP Registrars, FY2 Doctors and medical students. We are a high achieving practice in all areas and currently use EMIS Web as our clinical system.

The practice has circa 16,500 patients, cared for by an effective, dedicated and comprehensive primary healthcare team which includes GPs, Practice Nurses, Paramedics, Clinical Pharmacists, Social Prescribers, Podiatrists, First Contact Physiotherapists, and Reception/Secretarial/Admin teams. We are also active members of the Northamptonshire Rural PCN.

GPs do 15 minute consultations as standard and are supported by clinical pharmacists who deal with prescription queries and lead on repeat prescribing, which improves patient safety and reduces the GP admin burden. We maintain good access to appointments for our patients by having good staffing levels with highly trained ANPs, Paramedics and Clinical Pharmacists consulting alongside our team of eight GP partners and four salaried GPs.

We encourage special interests and have advanced MSK, Dermatology and Gynaecology GPs, in addition to GPs and Nurses specialising in chronic disease areas. We have a dedicated Minor Surgery room and would be keen to support a GP with an interest in Minor Surgery.

      About us

Our Partners work closely together to maintain high standards of patient care and develop the Practice. We have a strong management team to support the Partners and ensure the financial stability of the Practice. We offer highly competitive partnership drawings and finances and accounts can be viewed on request.

If you have any questions we would welcome an informal visit or discussion prior to application. You can contact Sarah Berry, Practice Manager on 01604 740210 or by email to sarah.berrry17@nhs.net.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
