      Job summary

      Due to our current manager moving on to a new challenge, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic practice manager to lead our friendly patient-centred practice, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations, effective patient care, and continuous improvement across all areas.

      Our practice is situated in the middle of Llanishen, a suburb of North Cardiff with a village feel. We serve patients living in Thornhill, Llanishen, Lisvane, Rhiwbina, Cyncoed and Heath.

      Our clerical staff offer a great blend of enthusiasm and experience, and the practice manager will be supported by an excellent team of senior administrators and a deputy manager.

      Our permanent clinical staff also have significant experience, and we also provide training for GPs and medical students.

      We are looking to appoint a manager to provide strategic leadership for our team, with a good understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities of running a GMS practice.

      Main duties of the job

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Operational Management:Oversee the smooth and efficient operation of the practice, including managing administrative and clinical workflows, patient services, and internal communication.
      • Team Leadership:Manage and support an experienced team of healthcare professionals and administrative staff, fostering a positive, productive working environment.
      • Financial Management:Monitor and manage the practice's financial performance, including budgeting, resource allocation, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This will involve a thorough understanding of income streams from the GMS contract and non-GMS work and ensuring that contractual requirements for unified services, supplementary services and quality improvement projects are met efficiently.
      • Compliance and Governance:Ensure that the practice adheres to all regulatory and contractual requirements, including those related to the Clinical Governance Practice Self-Assessment Toolkit (CGPSAT) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
      • Strategic Development:Work with the clinical team and stakeholders to implement strategies that improve service delivery, patient outcomes, and patient satisfaction.
      • IT and Systems Management:Ensure the practices IT systems are used effectively and remain compliant with healthcare standards.

      Llanishen Court Surgery is a long-established training and teaching practice in Llanishen, Cardiff. With a patient population of approximately 10,000, we are dedicated to providing high-quality care in a friendly, supportive environment. Our team comprises of 5 GP partners, 4 salaried GPs, 2 practice nurses, a healthcare assistant and an excellent administrative and management team.

      Qualifications

      Essential

      • GCSE or equivalent grade A to C in English and Maths.

      Desirable

      • Degree level qualification in relevant subject (e.g. management, healthcare, human resources, business)
      • Business or Management Qualification (e.g. diploma or higher qualification).
      • ILM Level 5 or 7 in Leadership and Management
      • Institute of General Practice Management Certification
      • Diploma in Primary Care Management

      Experience

      Essential

      • Proven experience in a Practice Manager or similar management role within a healthcare setting, ideally within a GMS practice.
      • Strong leadership and team management skills.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Financial acumen, including budget management and resource allocation.
      • In-depth knowledge of NHS policies, healthcare regulations, and GMS contract.
      • Proficiency with medical software and practice management systems.
      • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work under pressure.

      Desirable

      • Experience in Health Inspectorate Wales inspections and managing compliance.
