- Integrate Christian faith into coaching, teaching student-athletes the importance of character, humility, teamwork, and respect on and off the court. Use beach volleyball as a tool for spiritual growth and personal development.
- Lead the beach volleyball team by developing and executing a comprehensive coaching plan that fosters both individual and team development. Train athletes in beach volleyball fundamentals, advanced skills, and strategies while creating a competitive yet supportive environment.
- Identify and attract talented beach volleyball players who fit within the school’s mission and values. Develop and execute a year-round training program focusing on skill improvement, physical conditioning, and mental toughness.
- Prepare for and analyze game strategies, ensuring the team is always well-prepared for competition. Lead team practices, providing clear instructions and feedback. Manage game preparation, including video analysis, scouting, and pre-game meetings.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the beach volleyball program, including team meetings, practice schedules, and game itineraries. Ensure all aspects of the program align with the school’s vision for competitive excellence.
- Work closely with the Director of Athletics and other coaches to ensure a holistic approach to athletics, balancing competitive excellence with academic and spiritual development. Communicate effectively with parents and the school community to keep them informed of team progress and goals.
- Serve as a mentor to student-athletes, guiding them personally and academically. Encourage them to uphold Christian principles in all their actions, both in competition and outside of it.
- Ensure that the team adheres to all league rules and regulations and the school’s policies and standards. Maintain a safe and positive environment for all players and coaches.
- Approves timecards on schedule; assures assistant coaches comply with school payroll procedures and government wage and hour laws
- Collaborates with sports performance staff to establish a thorough strength and conditioning curriculum
- Develops off-season training programs and summer opportunities
- Oversees budgeting, purchasing, and expenditures; maintains and inventories equipment
- Communicates program information to school administration, students, parents, and the community
- Coordinate fundraising efforts to help support the beach volleyball program
- Organizes the annual end-of-season Awards Night
- Awareness of athletic and occupational hazards and safety precautions. Administers first aid contacts EMS when appropriate. Promptly reports all sports-related injuries and coordinates with athletic trainers.
- Pursues opportunities for student-athletes to compete at the next level after their high school career
- Monitors student conduct and performance eligibility; establishes rules for behavior; works with Athletic Director, administrators, and faculty to resolve academic and behavioral issues
- Advises students, parents, and assistant coaches
- Attends department and team meetings and required school functions
- Attend meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or administrator
- Valid Fingerprint, CPR, TB, and First Aid Certifications
- Ministry Safe Clearance
- Valid California Drivers License
- NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certificate
- NFHS Concussion in Sports Certificate
- NFHS Heat Illness Prevention Certificate
- NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest Certificate
- Knowledge of the rules, principles, techniques, and safety procedures of beach volleyball
- Principles and methods for curriculum and training design; instruction for individuals and groups
- Measurement of training effects
- Rules, by-laws, and policies of CIF, Trinity League, and Orange Lutheran High School
- Human behavior and performance, individual differences in ability, personality, learning, and motivation
- Principles involved in strategic planning, budgeting, and leadership techniques
- Familiarity of personnel recruitment and training
- Excellent instructional skills; Identifies the educational and training needs of students and coaches, training, mentoring and helping them to improve knowledge or skills. Selects and uses appropriate training methods. Accurately monitors/assess the performance
- Effective communication skills; conveys information effectively; actively listens - gives full attention to what others are saying; writes so that others will understand. Maintains timely and appropriate communication with students, parents, administrators, and coworkers
- Excellent Interpersonal Skills; effectively motivates, coaches, develops and directs others; establishes effective working relationships with students, parents, and other employees
- Effective management skills; maintains accurate student, financial, and personnel records; stays within budget; runs program within all school and CIF rules and requirements; effectively manage assistant coaching staff
- Effective problem-solving skills: uses good judgment, decision making, and critical thinking skills. Chooses appropriate actions, identifies problems; uses critical thinking skills to develop options and implement solutions
- Ability to work overtime, evenings, and weekends when needed
- Exhibit the highest level of Christian integrity in his/her life reflects Christ-like morals, behavior, attitude, and leadership
- Ability to articulate their Christian faith

- An active member of a Christian church; Missouri Synod preferred
- Support the Mission and Statement of Faith or Orange Lutheran High School
- The employee is frequently required to stand for extended periods, speak clearly, hear accurately, and move about the campus, gymnasium, or athletic field. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls
- The employee must occasionally lift to 50 pounds, and bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, push, pull, squat, kneel, twist, or bend. Specific vision abilities include near and far vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- The typical working environment is in an indoor school classroom, gymnasium, or locker room, or outdoors athletic facility with exposure to varying climactic. Duties may occasionally be performed on field trips away from school with varying conditions
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be loud at times

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Head Beach Volleyball Coach who is passionate about competitive excellence and helping our athletes grow as players and individuals who embody strong character, leadership, and faith. We seek an experienced and dynamic Head Beach Volleyball Coach to lead our program in the nation’s top athletic league. This coach will inspire and challenge student-athletes to strive for excellence in every aspect of the game while instilling Christian values such as integrity, sportsmanship, and teamwork. The Head Coach will develop and implement strategies to compete at the highest level, oversee player development, and foster a culture of discipline, faith, and success.
