- Delivering on customer requirements for agility and responsiveness by developing and leading the management processes required to expedite the delivery of services, products and projects requiring support from across NHSBT.
- Enhancing NHSBTs offer to the market by establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships with external organisations whose offer is complementary to NHSBT.
- Developing commercial strategies which position NHSBT as the provider of choice for services and products to UK and international customers.
- Developing strong professional relationships with key stakeholders including governmental, academic, commercial, NHS and grant-awarding organisations.
- Managing a team of Business Development Managers charged with realising the commercial potential of NHSBT by promoting and explicating integrated solutions to the market.

Job summary
You will play a critical role in shaping the future of an exciting function within NHS Blood and Transplant. CMT specializes in GMP manufacturing of plasmids, viral vectors, and cell therapies, supporting both academic and commercial partners. This is a unique opportunity to lead a business development function that directly contributes to advancing cutting-edge therapies, impacting patient lives across the UK and beyond.
In this role, you will lead the CMT business development team, and with support from the Assistant Director of Business Development, be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive business development strategy that will drive CMTs growth and financial performance. Your focus will be on expanding our market presence, increasing revenue, and fostering strategic partnerships that align with our mission to advance cellular and gene therapies. You will also lead the effort to further enhance CMTs business development capabilities.
This is a pivotal role where you will have the opportunity to head business development for CMT, driving significant growth and positioning the organization as a leading player in the highly competitive cell and gene therapy CDMO market.
Main duties of the job
The role of the Head of Business Development is to lead, manage and orchestrate business development and support activities with the delivery of services, products and projects within Cellular and Molecular Therapies (CMT) as part of Cell Apheresis and Gene Therapies (CAGT).
